Default 2006 GT Brake Noise

Hi all,

Just had a 40,000km service 2 weeks ago. I had pointed out some brake noise (high pitched squeak) on the way in. They checked the brakes - plenty of wear to go. Funny thing is, I'm now hearing a rumbling noise when I touch the brakes at speed. Sort of a grindy noise, but I feel no pulsating that one would associate with a warped rotor.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

Well squealing is the sign of worn brake pads, and rumbling is the sign of metal on metal. You won't get pulsating with metal on metal braking. I would have it check as soon as possable

Or, when the pads are worn down sometimes if the pistons retract a little bit the pad will "float" inside the caliper just enough to make that groaning noise.

If you take the caliper apart and clean the pistons and seals you will probably eliminate the problem. A new set of pads would probably make it stop too.
