I thought it looked like it was on the wrong side... When you bought the Jeggs oil separator, did it come with hose or did you need to buy the hose extra?

Another thing to remember... Always use hydraulic or fuel line. Never use heater hose as the oil will eventually break it down and it will collapse under vacuum.

Not by having breathers on both sides, which his second pic shows he has. I have breathers as well and found them to be easier and cheaper ($40) than a catch can.

Does this jegs separator need to be mounted in a certain orientation. It has one side labeled "IN" on it.
Doesn't seem like it should matter.

Absolutely... The 'IN' side is attached to the valve cover..

Depends on the fitting you use. Either 1/2" or 5/8".

Is this the one you are using?
JEGS 52205 - JEGS Air Oil Separator - JEGS

Because if so, it comes with two 1/4" NPT x 3/8" hose barb fittings included... and of course you need to have a bigger hose than that.

We ended up buying some 1/4" NPT x 1/2" hose barb fittings in order to attach the 1/2" hose... (rather than trying to get some sort of hose adapter). We'll see how well that works. I don't know what other people who've used the same part have done.

As far as we can tell, there is no 1/4" NPT to 3/8" hose barb fitting, so with that filter the best hose size would be the 1/2" (unless you find some other adapter for the larger hose).

You have to buy the hose separately.

Did you tear apart the OEM hose to reuse the quick connect fittings?

I'm not sure who that was directed at, but I'll answer anyway.

On the vehicle side, yes, we're cutting the OEM hose to use the quick connect fittings.

However, on the JEGS filter side, the hose barb fittings that come with the JEGS filter will not accept the larger 1/2" hose, so the larger ones are needed. (They work GREAT for the smaller 3/8" hose on the OTHER side of the engine, though. )

And for anyone who might not know, the hose barb fittings are those shiny brass things in the picture here: http://www.jegs.com/images/photos/55552205.jpg

I don't know WHY the JEGS filter comes with that smaller size fitting, it just does. Probably some other engines use the smaller size.

Crude flow diagram of proposed system:

Valve cover OEM Connector -> 1/2" hose -> 1/4" NPT x 1/2" hose barb fitting -> JEGS filter -> other 1/4" NPT x 1/2" hose barb fitting -> 1/2" hose -> intake plenum OEM connector

I *think* that's right, anyway.

Hurray! Maybe we'll get it right this time, then!

On a side note, we had to buy 10 of those brass fittings, cause they only came in packs of 10. So, I guess we're set for life!
