Default I blame you, [insert name here].

Alright, you guys scared me enough to buy something. Good thing I had money in the car account.

With the various threads on how you can get oil blow-by through the PCV and gunk up the TB, I had to go check mine. It was filthy!!
So, like a good little boy, I bought an air/oil separator from Jegs.

A trip to Sears, a couple of hole drilled, and a couple of pop-rivets...um...popped, and I got it installed. The hardest thing was cutting the plastic hose off of the quick-connects. It took me all of 15 minutes to do.

Wrong side!!! It goes on the drivers side from valve cover to intake plenum.

not according to my book...

it clearly says that the PCV pipe is the one on the passenger side, running to the intake tube...

unless the picture is wrong...

Trust me... The PCV line is on the other side.

This is from the service manual. PCV line is #6.

It's not that I don't believe you, but #2 in the picture is labeled "crankcase vent tube"?

You're correct... But it's the return side. Putting an oil separator there does nothing since it's pulling vac from the intake to the valve cover. All you'd be separating is air. The problem is the other side where it's pulling vacuum from the valve cover to the intake plenum.

ah...I see...shouldn't be too hard to fix...

then why does the manual have the return in the PCV section and not the other? very confusing...

I don't know... You don't have to set yours up in line like I did. You can run hose and bolt to the shock tower much like you already did.

yeah, that's what I'll do. I guess I have to buy some more hose now (and another PCV tube). (just when I thought I wouldn't have to make another trip to Autozone this time...sigh...)

It's a little frustrating that they didn't have both tubes shown in the PCV section of the book. After all, I bought the silly things to help keep me from making silly mistakes like this one.

I saw the picture you had posted before, I just assumed that it was different between '05 and '08. Ah well...live and learn...

You don't have to replace the passenger side tube. You can just use those connectors you already cut off and run a straight piece of hose.

alright, I have removed the separator, replaced the tube I removed, and ordered new fittings for the tube on the other side. When those parts come in, I will attach it to the correct hose.

I'm glad I decided to go ahead and post something (I wasn't going to, at first). Thanks stlwagon!

It would have done no harm where it was but you would have seen no benefit. Glad we got you squared away. Let's see some pictures once you've got it back on!
