I don't have to worry about freezing temps here, so I don't use any anti-freeze in the I/C. Just water. If I don't plan to hit the track for a while, I add in some Water Wetter. But usually, it's just plain water.

Plain water is the best coolant when you don't have to worry about it freezing solid
I used de-ionized water (instead of tap or distilled) and 100% pure Zerex AF (yellow per Ford's spec). I used the Ford recommended AF mixture (50/50 I think) and added some water wetter. Kenne Bell recommended a 70/30 mixture for the IC, but I didn't think it tested low enough for central Indiana, so I drew some out and added pure AF until it tested to at least -20. Also added water wetter to the IC per Kenne Bells recommendations. Not being very creative, I just did what Ford & KB engineers said. But I would like it to not freeze in the winter. So like the man said, trust but verify....

Easy! I cheated. My youngest son is a chemistry student. He's a college senior and has been working in the lab since his freshman year. He brought me two gallons when I started the KB install. When he graduates this spring (and he WILL graduate as the funding runs out), I guess I'll have to find another source. It can be obtained from almost any lab suppliers. I found a couple of small-volume suppliers via google. Just have to remember water is heavy (about 8.5 lbs per gallon), so shipping can get relatively expensive. Still, you don't have to buy much or very often and it does keep. There are also some de-ionizer devices you can attach to a garden hose for a 'sparkling' wash of your Mustang.
Also a warning (from my chemistry student) - DO NOT DRINK de-ionized water. It's great for aluminum blocks and radiators, but very hard on the human liver, even worse than drinking softened water...

I don't have to worry about freezing here in Texas either. Just plain water in the IC reservoir unless I'm at the track....then I pack it with ice!

You should add some water wetter or purple ice. Makes the water cool even better..
Water wetter definitely works, but PLstang and I both pack ice when we're at the track. So, since we're draining the IC reservoir on a regular basis, we'd just be wasting the water wetter. When I wasn't racing for several months after the fire, I used water wetter, but now that I'm back at the track, there is no reason to waste money on it.
