2005 Mustang GT Convertible defroster issues Hi guys. I am a new member. I am hoping to get some help for my two issues with my 05 GT convertible.
Problem# 1:
Last year I bought a 2005 mustang GT convertible (march) and in november time frame, I noticed the defroster was not working. It was working in October. What seemed to have happed is that from the top going up and down, the wire came off the hook that attached to the glass. I took it to the dealer, they tried to fix it twice, but with no success. So, today, I still do not have a working defroster. The dealer told me that the glass alone cannot be replaced, so I will have to replace the top...and that $2K or more. Have you heard of other 2005+ convertibles having similar issues. Someone had mentioned there is a fix kit that is relatively cheap, but I am affraid to go for it. I am pretty sure I purchased the extended warranty, so I will have to see if that covers it. I wonder if using this kit will null the warranty.
Problem# 2:
Last month, the engine light came on. Took it to get an oil change and paid it for the guy to retrieve the codes. He could not tell me for sure but he narrowed it down to two possible codes - the most possible code may be coming from the fuel sending unit (which I was told could happen from overfilling the tank). Any advice how I can get the codes cleared short of taking it to the dealer and getting ripped off for having to replace the unit!
I love my GT. I upgraded from a 4 cyl Mazda 3 to 8 cyl GT...what a difference. I love it, but these little things that keep happening are spoiling the mood. I am getting the feeling the car was build for performance, but also with cheaper materials to keep it more affordable.
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciate it.
Thanks so much. |
