What I did was take both terminals off the battery, tapped them together to discharge everything and if you have a cap for subs or an amp make sure you disconnect the cap and touch those two wires together also while the battery is disconnected. Re-connect the battery and drive it until the idle evens out and stops surging hence the computer will have learned by then...also like stlwagon mentioned, it has to do a complete cold/hot cycle. |
I called the dealer and they said that they use their computer to set the idle and when i asked about the method you explained they had not heard of it. He said, not to say that it isn't correct but they have never done it.
Why wouldn't the performance shops now about this and let me know? I have had it at 3 different shops.
I will disconect the battery tonight and reconect in the morning to insure that the car is as cold as possible and go through the steps. Had the battery tested along with the altenator and they were both good, however I may need to add water.
