Default 2005 mustang gt fail safe mode @ 3k RPMS

P2106 P0610. Goes into this after 3000 rpms. Replaced the throttle body from a working 13000 mile car with no difference. I am rebuilding this car from a wreck. I replaced the broken air box with a new klm cold air return. When I first got it installed the car ran great for 2 days. Also some of my wires in the lighting harness the plugs ect have been torn loose. I have carefully taped all the broken wires during these tests. Whats some more options to solve this? Is it the Cold air return? Someone said it was a throttle body for sure. As you can see no, wasted money. HELP and thanks

Why are you using a lighting harness? That could be the problem.

2106 is throttle body related. P0610 may indicate a bad PCM.

Yes that's your computer that is just next to the fuse box under the hood. Silver box with three plugs in the front.

Or, it's a short somewhere in the main harness.

This mustang had the hood missing for some time as a wreck until I bought it. I had alittle water in my oil from this neglect. I changed the oil and finally the water was gone. What about this box getting rained on? Could the plugs be cleaned and re seated or is my thery all wet. Whats your thoughts on this?

Yes, if the electronics got wet, that would be an issue. TPS. MAF sensor, throttle motor harness, PCM, coils.

Have you pulled and inspected the plugs yet?

It's worth a try to clean the plugs.

Check for damaged/broken electrodes and signs of carbon or fuel fouling. Here's a good guide to plugs.
