2006 Mustang GT electric window problem

I have an intermittent problem with the electric windows "deprograming" themselves. They no longer go up and down automatically and I have to reset them as per the manual. They work again for a while and then "deprogam" again. This is not the result of holding the button down when activating them, but seems to occur when I start the car. Any ideas on what the cause could be?

Sounds like you might have a power issue. You bettery may be getting weak and not retaining settings.

never heard of stuff like this before... wow... the s197 really does have a shitty battery from the factory.... im worried about mine.... mines an 06 with the factory battery still in it(but the cars only got 12k miles).. i wonder how long it will last!!!

I have made it a habit to turn off the radio manually before i shut the car down... i heard this helps a bit with battery life.

3 years seems to be about average for the OEM batteries. Mine lasted a little longer than that.

I had to get mine charged by the dealer at 3,400 miles back in March. I remember the first time it died I had to go buy a charger, the window wouldn't let the door close all the way.

I had a similar problem last year on my 06. There is a sensor on the door latch that tells the window to drop or raise depending on whether the door is open or closed. If the latch gets dirty the sensor gets confused. I kept spraying it down with WD40 to clean it off. It took several treatments but eventually it started working again and worked ever since. Give that a try, don't cost nothing.

Where's the sensor at? Mine's been not bringing the window back up when I shut the door. Mostly a driver side problem, and as my battery is a new one I think I'm going to give cleaning that sensor a shot...

I just kept spraying WD40 into the door latch until it was saturated. Then open and close the door a few times then more WD40. It will flush out any dirt that's in the latch and I think the sensor is integrated into it. Not sure...but it worked for me.
