Shelby GTA Mufflers (M-5230-GTA) I have a quick technical question on these mufflers. Has anyone seen one of these cut open? I have heard they are "chambered" like a flowmaster. I was always under the impression they were more of straight though design like a Dynomax ultra flow. Does anyone know how the internals of these are set up?

You can look in the end of one and see that it is chambered.

According to a local muffler shop, flowmasters are the only mufflers that are chambered. Other mufflers that we think to be chambered such as JBAs are actually baffled.

I have a set of GTA's on my car...but I do not see the common tag welds you would see on a chambered muffler (like a flowmaster). I've heard of some people claiming they have blown out the packing inside the GTA's which makes me wonder if they are designed like a Dynomax Turbo muffler. The mystery continues.

The GTA's are made by Supreme Performance for FRPP but I can't find any info on Supreme.

Yeah...me either. They used to have a website but it's down. I guess my best bet will be to contact them. Ever since I installed long tubes with cats...the car is super loud. I'm debating on fabricating a set of Dynomax super turbo mufflers. I read they flow up to 700 CFM...more than double the stock mufflers which flow at 317 CFM.

It sure does. Looks like there is no packing from what I can see either.

Spoke to a FRPP rep face to face today. I asked him how the muffler was setup. They showed me a cutaway of the GTA's. They are chambered with flow paths (like a dynomax super turbo) with no packing. I guess that answers my question

I thought for sure that they were straight through. But at least they're not baffles like Flowmasters.
