I just bought a '05 Mustang a week ago and I do love the car, BUT the Shaker 500/MP3 sound system is defective. It will not play ANY continues mixed CDs. Bought OR Burned! About 90% of my CDs are continues mixes (Store purchased) and all of the skip between songs when it should not. In my opinion, I should be able to buy any CD from the store and the CD player should be compatible. If it does not play industry standard CD, then the system is defective. I'm going to ask Ford to replace it with something that works. Anyone else have this problem?

Quite a few people have reported problems with skipping - and I have experienced this too, although the skipping problem seems to have really dropped of lately.
I have not yet tried any MP3 files, but I pretty much burn all of my own CDs - and the songs which started as MP3 files I always convert to CD format before making the CD so they can play in any player and I don't have to worry about which CDs will play where. I don't recall anyone else having that much trouble with theirs, and all of my CDs - bought or burned - work okay.
Some CD players don't recgonized the format of the Continous songs, I had that problem with an old Panasonic CD player. Kinda suxed but really isn't that big of a deal.

Hey SanDog,
I've got the Shaker 1000 and have noticed a couple of glitches - one time it spit out a store bought CD as "bad." Then I tried to play it again and guess what - no probs.
I'm definitely going to keep my eye on it!
Thx

That makes no sense. I know that when you use Roxio to record a cd if you don't choose to record the cd all at once so the laser never shuts off during the recording you will get gaps in between tracks but in this case i can't figure out why the stock cd player would not decode it correctly. Are you sure that these aren't copies of store bought cd's?

My stang has the Shaker 500 and also has had the occasional skip. I called my dealer and he is replacing with a new one. I told him I have read that it looks like a problem with the system. He said because not many cars are not out on the road yet, The reports to the dealers have not been signaficant to warrant a recall on the Shaker. I have an appt for Tuesday for the replacement. I have had my car 3 weeks.
I've had problems with skipping, too...it was built 11/04/04 and has Shaker 500. I've had occasional skips with both store-bought CDs and burned MP3 disks.

I got the Shaker 500, it started play anything with minor glitches then stopped playing anything all together. I hate to pull the dash apart until I'm sure Ford can put something in the will work. Has anyone had their shaker not give them problems?
I bought my 2005 Mustang GT about 3.5 weeks ago with a Shaker 1000 System in it (sounds really good! when it works!). The first week it would play some of my CD's (only store bought ones). About a week later it spit out all of my cd's claiming that they were all "Bad CD"'s! So the player stopped playing ALL CD's... I would put a CD in and it would read it for about a minute and then spit it right back out at me. SO i went back to the ford dealership and they ordered me a new one and I just got it installed in my car. Guess what! IT WOULDNT PLAY ANY CD's AGAIN. Luckly i tried this before i left the dealership. I talked to my service advisor and the only advice she gave me was to keep ordering a new one untill one worked for me, so they ordered yet another one (Ford must be loosing alot of money on my problem!). This is totally unacceptable, if I pay extra for a 6 disk sound system, it better work the first (or second!) time! What should I do!?
Complain, complain, complain! Not only to your dealer, but to the regional manager and Ford HQ. Once enough people register complaints they will be forced to issue a recall and find a fix for this problem once and for all. Sounds like a lot of people are experiencing this, so it wouldnt surprise me to see a recall in the near future. (Hopefully before I buy mine!)
Of course, in the "good old days" no one ever kept the factory stereo anyway, those were always chucked in favor of the then-superior after market models.
This seems to be a major problem & huge dissapointment. I hope Ford works this out permanently before my car gets here. I was really looking forward to this option. Others will say this is what warrantys are for. That's B.S.! When you have to take time out of your schedule repeatedly to have the car serviced that's a major inconvenience whether the service is free or not.
I am very sad to say I think there will be a lot more problems like these with the Shaker System. LastownedA77 is right we need to let the Corp. Ford have our problem on record not just the Dealer. I called Ford and forwarded my complaint to the Engineering Dept. If they get enough it will be a reason to recall and repair it with a system that will not have these problems. If we are having problems right out of the gate what do you think will develop 2-3 yrs. down the road. Call 1-800-392-3673 have your vin number ready. Let your voices be heard!
Just picked up mine last week with the Shaker 500. I've noticed a few skips on store-bought CDs and my MP3 CDs often get ejected as bad. If I keep trying, it will eventually take them. Seems like a problem with the system to me. All of these CDs work fine in my cheapo RCA portable CD/MP3 player.
I have the Shi**er 1000 and it does the same thing, did notice it skips when the gas pedal is depressed ( car standing still or moving) and be repeated over and over. Must be something in the fly by wire electronic portion of the car, I think Ford,s fix will be grounding or sheilding.
