Hell yes....We did a couple page thread at stangnet on it...I and several others have had a good scare from it.....someone mentioned that in a wind test in canada the hood peeled back at 150mph wind....Hood pins were recommended then and I do now.....once I get my new hood I will be installing hood pins for sure....but I'm not drilling the stock hood......heres a pic of a stock hood with pins for those interested....This is a real problem for sure.

If you were to chose to get pins I would recommend Ford racing parts stainless with coated cables.

Kind of scary that a stock setup would be so easily compromised by aerodynamic drag. I've been pretty sure that the new design isn't that aerodynamic when compared to late model vehicles but didn't think it was that bad.

Someone in the other discussion thought that it had alot to do with the solid plastic( cowl? )piece at the wiper area at the top of the hood ... that did not alow air coming through the grill to escape at the widshield....

I personaly think it has alot to do with the old design the we love.... the hood is hanging over the grill.. kinda all on it's own....when you add that overhang with an open mouth front and add a flimsy light aluminum hood.....you get shake at high speed winds. not good

Hey Thunder05, what hood (mfg?/style?) are you looking to change to?

Just picked up my 05 black 5sp today and on the way home I had the same problem with the hood. The dealer seems to think a minor adjustment should take care of the problem. Or they just blowing smoke at me?

Please do share the adjustment!

I don't think pins will do squat for this. I stared at it (almost read ended a truck - doh!) while drving today and noticed that the oscilations are happening near the windshield, not the front. The pins secure on front, not on the windshield side.

If anything, the hinges, springs, or tensioners would need fixing adjusting - so if your dealer things it's fixable, please do let us know what they end up doing. It'll save us all a trip to the shop!

Be careful, the car also dont have much for down force, at speeds like that

Try it at 145 MPH, so bad I went back down to 70 MPH, very scary...I have had a hood come back over the cowel on me over some railroad tracks in my old 87 GT,not a good thing...I do belive they can be adjusted to an extent, but this problem seems to be popping up more and more...

I actually have this problem consistently at speeds over 90MPH. However, with my car it looks as if the hood will peel back from the front of the car (so the hood would open as usual except it would be doing so at speed).

I called Ford about this, and they told me to take it into the dealer. The dealer doesn't know how to fix it.

around 80 it starts and from there it just gets worse. I see it mostly on the side of the hood. Is the hood too light? According to the dealer there is no way that the hood would peel back. At least that this the BS they fed me. They told me that there are two locks on the front to prevent it from flying back. Personally that doesn't make me feel any better. I want the lifting to stop.

I had it happen to me as well while running against a Goat a few days ago. Caught me by surprise as it wobbled like it was a bed sheet. Distracted me as I sat there staring at it wondering what is going on. The hood on the 05 is damn light. I have no desire to drill two holes in the hood for hood pins but if I have no choice...

The hood that I am putting on is an old Shelby style repro that will be made by abcexlusive auto parts.....I contacted them by E mail about making it in fiberglass....They said they would and were going to....but ....They don't have any 05 products ready yet. Site still says coming soon.
Here is a couple of pics of the hood..with pins.....mine will be black.... no stripes of course.

I haven't noticed that it is happening to mine yet...been around 120 several times ...is it something that you just can't miss if it is happening? maybe I'm just scanning down the road and I'm missing it?
