Default Flowmaster

I installed the Flowmaster American Thunder Axle Back Kit a week ago. I love how they sound. Deep and powerful. Although sound clips don't give a true sound, you can get an idea at this website.

In addition to the sound, I mean the stockers sound decent, I would like to see some dyno pulls on the 05 exhaust mods, it is critical to not lose RWHP or RWTQ when one makes mods. I am sure some systems are boosting the RWHP pretty good.

Dynos?

I installed the JBA's and love them. Loud enought to turn turn heads at a stop light, great sound at idle and nice growl at higher rpms. Not to loud in the **** pit. I have the Shaker 1000 but find myself turning it down just so I can listern to her run. Music to my ears!

From everything I've read, the stock exhaust system is pretty clean and performs exceptionally well. You have to start at the cylinder head and work back to get any appreciable gains (that I've read about anyway). By this I mean long tube headers, crossovers, etc. I read where one mod with a cat back system added shorty headers and only gained about 5-6 RWHP average across the full RPM range. I installed the Flowmaster axle backs, not for any gain and not really for sound - mainly for looks (black body and SS tips). The awesome sound was a bonus for me. If you're after more power, axle backs aren't the answer but for looks and sound the Flows get my vote. Hope this helps!

I love my MACs, had been lurking at the shops listening to most others and the MACs was just the meanest. Not all that loud but they say 'there is balls!' I mostly like the sound 'gain' at idle and low RPMs, you can tell there is power coming but then again it's not 'wake people up' obnoctious... At higher RPM they are a bit louder than stock but oh so much deeper and meaner! I liked the JBAs too, they vere pretty close, I also liked the BAssanis but my friend said that would be to discrace the car as it's more sharp. The Flows and the Mags didn't do it too me mostly because they are too 'nice' sounding at idle, too close to stock IMHO...

(I can really honestly tell I gained low end TQ, probably from the X-pipe. Much snappier now, of course you notice when you DRIVE IT, but also at close to idle starts in 1st, or an 'almost stop'/slow roll in 2nd, she just pulles away almost like an auto, awesome low end TQ! I'll try to have it dynoed to get a number before putting the rest on...)

kj_cinci, so you have listened to most of them and JBA's are close? Does that mean the JBA's have a noticibly different sound at idle than stock?

If so, I think I am going with the JBA's as they are only $311.69 from the JBA shop around the corner...

Yes they are, I'd say the JBAs are between the Mags and my MACs, definately more ballsy idle than stock! $312 is a deal, they'll prolly put 'em on too, not hard but why bother... :thumbsup

Good Luck and ENJOY (Imight as well sell my stereo! )

Default jba

i just did jba axle backs.not enough gain in sound as i expected.this is a slight improvement over stock but not what i expected.slight drone also wich can be annoying when lugging the gears.guess i was expecting more.in my opinion not worth 400 bucks (installed).yes a overall sound improvement, but nothing wrong with stockers compared to these.

I find myself doing the same thing. Why don't we put a microphone next to the mufflers and pipe the sound through the Shaker 1000? Now THAT would really be music to your ears!

Me too wrote here or in another thread that the stock mufflers are plenty... AM ones are just a bit better sounding idling and at lower RPMs. Luckily the MACs are 'ballsier' than most others. The drone should get better (disapear?) after 1000 or so miles... (they say...) :thumbsup

I installed the JBA axle backs. I like them, and here's a link to hear before and after install.

Give the vids time to load, they will work,
