Default SCT Xcal-2 advice needed

2006 GT auto interested in improving throttle response off the line, firming up shifts, pushing out shift points, and turning off traction control. Stock and planning on staying that way.

Appreciate advice, links to advice etc. Don't understand how the whole tuning process works, questions:

1) Advice on tunes to have loaded based on foregoing

2) What can I do vs. the place that loads the tunes?

3) I have a 2002 F150 and I'm told I can't use the STC on both, why? Is that correct?

Thanks!

Try to wait, and get a cold air intake at the same time. (DeMolet, or Evolution)(their tunes Rock) when you tune your mustang the sct 2 saves the factory tune in its memory, there by "locking it" to your stang.

Good Luck:thumbsup

hogpowr is correct - get the CAI at the same time and you'll get much more out of your tune. I also have an auto and I would of course recommend www.alternativeauto.com for their C&L intake and SCT Xcal II setup - I spin my tires on 2nd & 3rd gear shifts - well, not as much anymore since I had my suspension done - but the power is incredible and I can toss myself back in the seat anytime I want to. Loads of fun!!

Thanks, I keep reading about the intake, may go that way.

Can a tune reduce the off the line throttle lag of the throttle by wire?

Yes - I have tried 2 different tunes in my car - the first company completely eliminated the lag, but everything else about their tune sucked. There is still a tiny bit left when already moving, but off the line it absolutely pounces!!! The TB spacer helped get rid of what little remained, and the rest of the tune is so good that I an happy with it.

HeiMan, what octane tune do you have? I have a tune from AlternativeAuto also. Since I'm on the west coast I can't use the 93, so I'm running the 89. My auto stang gets tire from 1st to 2nd only, wondering if I could get a 91 tune if that would make a difference? Thanks

While we're on the subject, does anybody know:

When you use a tuner to turn Traction Control "Off", does that mean that it only defaults to "off" when you start the car (so that you can turn ut on with the switch whenever you want -or- is Traction Control permanently turned "off", meaning that I will no longer have the option of turning it on with the switch on the dash?

It's kinda nice to have Traction Control when it gets slippery outside!

I believe it just reverses the process so you can still turn it on with a push of the button.

Oh... That's not good. Did you ask him to mod the tune or are you just going to leave it off?

I have the xcal 2 from Evolution too. You mean to tell me my traction control is disabled? I always turn it off and the o/d button when I start up.

When I hook my predator up and select "modify tune", while in the parameters section, it shows that my installed custom C&L tune has the traction control turned "off".

The Diablosport user's manual says that the traction control might be "reversed" on some models, but it does not define what "reversed" means.

Reversed: Does that mean that the dash switch indicates "off" when traction control is really "on"? Or does it mean that when the Predator unit is showing that you presently have traction control turned "off" that you really have traction control turned "on"?

If you have installed a custom tune, and the traction control dash light and switch appear to be functioning normally, is it, in fact, functioning normally?

I dunno... If nobody else does, I will call Diablosport tomorrow and get the skinny on this one.

Thanks for the replies.
