Just wondering if anyone else has had issues with the Shaker 500 going silent for a few minutes at a time. Basically I start the car and no sound will come from the stereo, the screen is still lit up and I can select various radio stations and switch the cd's but there is no volume available, also the clock will reset to the default 12:00 time. This has happened to me 3-4 times over the past year, I can solve the problem by shutting off the car and then restarting it, this must reset it. I have not taken it to the dealer because I am not crazy about the idea of having some tech rip my dash appart looking for a short (those dudes always seem to create rattles whenever they get near a dashboard!) and as it happens rarely it is not big inconvience.
I'm just wondering if anyone has had similar problems and if so what the fix is. Thanks in advance for any input.:thumbsup

I've had the same problem. It's like a computer freeze within the Shaker 500. I wonder if it runs on Windows? Mine skips on cd's as well. It's really bad on burned CDR's.

I have the same problem with my Shaker 500. It's happened to me about 4 or 5 times since I've owned the car. I'll get in, start the car, and the radio is really quiet and muffled. As if the sound is only coming thru the sub woofer. It does this on both the radio and the cd player. If I shut the radio off for a few minutes, then turn it back on, it's fine.
Well add me to the list, my shaker 500 froze/skipped it's way to heaven. Warr. replacement on the way. 14 days short of 3 years, but onlt 17k on the odometer.

I'm a newbie member so greetings! I have a 2006 GT Convertible with the Shaker 500 and I have experienced the exact same thing. It's very sporadic and there is no ryme or reason to the timing. It is also very picky about which cd burner I use to make CDs.. (both standard and MP3) It seems to prefer my NEC over my Lite On as I have had no issues with any CD burned with the NEC.
I thought about putting the car in the shop but I'm with the guy who mentioned earlier not liking mechanics near his dashboard.. I don't want it taken apart unless it's absolutely necessary so I'm just chalking it up as a character flaw that only shows up from time to time.
