Strut tower bar and plenum cover issue.

Who sells a strut tower bar that will NOT interfere or rub against the midwest auto gear plenum cover? I have the expensive Steeda strut bar with billet ends and it ruined my plenum covers paint. I dont want to wrap the bar either with some protective foam or other band aid. Thanks.

I've heard a couple of guys who added shim washers to clear the cover.

I thought of this too and thanks for the reply. I am wondering though if this might be a structual (weakening) problem and also the clearance then between the bar and the hood. Any thoughts?

I have the Strange Development strut tower brace and a custom painted Miswest plenum cover, and I have clearance between the brace and cover. The last I checked, the Starnge Developmetn brace was on sale. Also check out old threads here, I have a pic under the thread I started "Oh my god, I did it myself" or something similar.

So if the Steeda bar doesn't clear the cover I'm guessing it probably wouldn't fit over a supercharger.

Default Tower brace

What kind of tower brace do you have? Double or single?
I have a single chrome tower brace on my 05 with the
plenum cover for sale and there are no rubbing issues.

How much are you asking for it? I might be interested.

You might be right on this. When transfering the load from one side to the other you might be creating an unwanted moment arm if you add spacers. However, if the spacers aren't that tall then it might not be much of an issue.

Ditto what he said The Strange Development Brace is one of the few that will clear the plenum covers. Easy to install.

Will the Blue Oval single bar strut tower brace clear the Midwest AutoGear and/or Brothers plenum cover?

I don't have one of these, but investigated several when I was thinking about adding one. I don't think any of the various braces would clear my KB anyway. After installing the blower, I simply don't want anything detracting from it's natural beauty. Mmmmm good....

My son installed a set of Agent47 mirrors on his procharged V6 and they look awesome. Quality was top notch.

Just to get a data point in a thread that might show up in a search for "strut tower brace clearance", or some such: the Shelby two-bar, four-nuts-per-side clears the factory "Appearance" package cover with 5/16ths to spare; 2009 GT/CS.
