Default Diablo Tuner or SCT?

ok so i am ordering the C&L intake through work and it comes with the Diablo tuner which is already programmed. i wont be able to get the car dyno tuned for awhile but i want to put the stuff on ASAP. i would rather have the SCT but would like to hear from a few diablo owners. i havent hear the best things about them in the past but C&L preprograms the diablo when they send it to you...not the SCT. Some input would be appreciated

I originally bought a Diablo, but ended up selling it and buying a SCT because the support after purchase was so poor. When you buy a SCT have the person you buy it from load in a tune to allow for your C&L CAI and any other modifications or octane specifications you want. Buy from a SCT seller who will continue to work with you and provide additional changes to the tune as you make or want performance changes to your car.

I probably would have ordered a custom kit from someone else that was a C&L and SCT and got them to provide a custom tune. This stuff is new to me though and wasn't really communicated clearly when I was doing my order. Ah well. I still haven't received my kit yet, hopefully soon. I hope the Diablo does the trick, the only good thing is a local tuner with a dyno does Diablo tunes so I'm OK there if I need a custom one.

You can get the C&L/X-cal combo with up to 3 tunes from a variety of SCT tuners out there. I bought from Brenspeed and have been very satisfied.

Nice to hear positive feedback on Brenspeed, I am going to order a SCT 2 and really haven't been able to decide who to order it from. I have seen a couple posts that Bama Chips does a good job also. Do you have a tune for 93 octane? I talked to a guy at the strip the other night that was using a SCT and he said it was a honest (on the dyno) 30+ RWHP with just the basic high octane tune. What do you think? Thank you.

Ive got the SCT with K&N CAI but havnt dynoed it. bought the SCT from bamachips and it is worth it. Had i known about them before i bought the K&N, i would have got the C&L through them as well.

Im tuned for 93 as well.

Nah you should of gotten the JLT and SCT X2...its like $200 cheaper and you will get the same horsepower. and i have heard of people getting 30+ rwhp from a CAI + tune + 93 octane.definately a reality

I've got Brent's 87, 91 and 93 octane tunes. With the 87 tune, CAI and a full exhaust front to back, I'm running at 305RWHP/318RWTQ. Haven't dyno'd on 93.

Keep in mind that the only function of the flasher is to upload the information that the tuner programs into it. It is the tune, not the flasher, that makes the difference. The tuner can enter exactly the same parameters into the Diablo as he can the SCT. C&L has been around for a number of years and obviously is quite reputable. I once called them re: the intake on my 4.6sohc 65 project and they were very helpful. I doubt that you will be disappointed.
