I recently purhcased a Legends ducktail spoiler, I then had it prepped, painted and then installed by a local body shop. I recently discovered how bad of a job the body shop did. First, they did not do a great job of prepping before painting. Since I have a black car, I had the spoiler painted black, but at my show I noticed that from certain angles you could see ripples in the paint. I appears the boddy shop did not block the spoiler so it showed up when painted.
Next they installed the spoiler directly on top of the deck lid WITHOUT the aide of any double sided tape or gasket or such. I noticed immediately after washing it that water and dirt was getting trapped between the trunk lid and spoiler.
Today I finally had time to take the spoiler off to reinstall it with double sided tape (to keep water and dirt out) and when I took it off I noticed the bubbling paint underneathe the spoiler. I grant, when installed no one can see it, but since I paid a pretty penny to have this spoiler prepped, painted and installed, I think I am going to have to call in the lifetime warranty and get it redone correctly.
I am going today to the shop to test the lifetime warranty. Also noticed there is water in the spoiler. I am really curious as to know how the water got in there. There are two drain holes on the bottom end (the side that meets the trunklid), which means the holes are always pointing down. Whenever I opened the trunk, water would trickle out, hence why I noticed no tape or gasket. Any thoughts on how water got in the spoiler. When I wash the car, it is hand washed, have not focred water under spoiler. I wonder if the body shop got water in there when they were prepping (cleaning) the spoiler prior to paint. things that make you go hhhmmmm....
that sucks.how much did you pay for the prep and paint if you dont mind me asking?im looking to buy the same spoiler.how is the view from the rear view mirror?can you still see out ok?

I paid $300 for prep, paint, and install (they removed factory spoiler and installed new one). I absolutely love the spoiler, but yes, it does suck up a bit of the view from behind. On a scale of 1 to 10 (one being entirely blind) I would say it is a 8.5. I have a vert and drive with the top down most of the time so my view is still good. The view is only minorly obscured. I get a ton of comments on the spoiler. I recommend the spoiler. I grant, you could probably get a CDC, 3D Carbon or a Xenon prepainted one for a bit cheaper (I paid a total of $600 for spoiler, prep, paint and install), but the unique look is very nice and well worth it in my opinion.
By the way,t he body shop did not have a problem at all in fixing it right away.
