I have been looking into tuning my stock 2006 GT. I am thinking about going with the TI (Tunable Induction) Stealth / Signature Comp-Cobo Kit that includes:
GT Stealth or Signature Series system
SCT XCalibrator 2 Tuner w/ cable and custom 87, 91, 93 Tunes
JBA Axle Back Exhaust
I have read on this forum that it is best to have the car tuned and dynoed to get the most out of the installation. Was hoping that I could get a few recommendations for shops in the Bay Area, CA that could install this package and tune my car. I was also was hoping to get some opinions on the TI combo and if it is a good choice?
Hey fellow Byy Area, CA Mustang owner, how are you doing? Anyways, just a note, in CA, it may not be a good plan to have a SCT XCal2 tuner tuned to 87, 91, and 93 octanes, for here in CA, the best we can get is 91 (we have the the 87, 89, and 91). As for shops in CA, Sincity used to live in the Bay Area and he has a wealth of information when it comes to Bay Area shops, give him a hollar (or sincity, you drop him a note)
Thanks for the info. Good point on the octane tunes. I just copied and pasted the info from the package they offered, however will see if they could inclue tunes for 87, 89, & 91 if I go ahead and purchase the kit. With the price of gas, I woul likely go with the 97 tune anyways, since I can't see getting more than 4-5 HP gain going with a 89 or 91 tune anyways. Nt sure who Sincity is, but hoping he posts some good info here on who I should take my car to.
You want to look for sincitystang, he is in Las Vegas, but used to be from the bay area. When I bought my SCT XCal2 from Brenspeed, I had him program it for 87, 89, and 91 octane (I use the 91 octane tune).
There are a few tuner places in the bay area. One that comes to mind is Apex motorsports in Santa Clara, CA. They should lead you to what ever you need when it comes to mustangs. For racing, there is Griggs racing at infineon raceway, and there is also Maximum Motorsports in San Luis Obispo. For suspension related issues, i would inquire with Custom Alignment in Mt. View. There are so many shops, i know there is a mustang tuner in Castro Valley that i dont remember their name. You can also call Speed Merchant in San Jose for more info. I hope this helps

+1 for apex, dont go to speed merchant had few friends take there stangs there for supercharger installs and lets just say things did not go well... oh and there is big difference in the 87 and 91 tune. i had the 87 tune with sct2 and jlt2 felt good,,,but does not compare with the 91 tune... 91 tune rocks!

I hate to speak negatively of a place, but my experience with Apex Motorsports in Santa Clara has been subpar to say the least. PM me if you'd like details...
dont go to speed merchant, ive been there enough to know what there work and service is like. definately not the best. if you were going there to just get parts, you should be OK. ive heard a couple bad stories about apex MS. seems like thye are hit and miss at times. IMO id say +1 for AlteredSPeed, Maximum M., and i would take my car to apex but i would be cautious. hope this helps.
P.S. Abouts where in the bay area are you? The bay is a big place
