Hey gang. I really like the stock radio since it has a nice finish in the console and is a 6 disk. I have an amp and sub from a previous car that i would like to setup to the stock 6disk(shaker 500). Do i need any special wires besides the amp wires to run my amp and subwoofer on the stock radio? All i want is the amp to power the subwoofers.
Hey,
I guess I can help ya out since I had the same problem and most people seem to think its easier to get a new head unit over keeping the nice stock look.

First I got a line out converter from tweeter, you can get a variety of these from any store.
Second I wired the line out converter to the speaker wires under the back seats.
Then I had bought a JL amp kit (just because it was easier than gettin all gauged wire on its own) pretty cheap on ebay. It was a nice kit and they already have everything you need.
I wired the line in wire to my amp off of the interior fuse box so that i didnt have to run another wire to the engine compartment and so itll turn on and off with the accessory ignition. I ran both the line out and the power from the front under the door sills (SP) and then under the carpter and back bench to the trunk. I have a pdf that goes through all that and the wires youll need to tap if you need it.
I never had to touch the actual radio and the system sounds great. hope this helps let me know if you need any clarification i know this is jumbled.

There is an easier way. Use an amp that has line level inputs and a low pass filter. The line level inputs do the same thing as a converter and the low pass filter does away with the need for a cross over. If you get an amp with a line level input turn on, you don't even need to find a turn on lead. To install, just tap into the rear deck speakers in the trunk, which is where your amp will go anyhow, run a suitable gauge power wire up the right side of the car to the battery, ground the amp, wire the sub and you are done.
also the shaker 500 (500 watts) is an in dash 6 disc changer, which also plays mp3z what more could you ask for.
The shaker is amoung the best, factory units I have heard, but a name brand after market(kenwood, pioneer, alpine, etc.)tuner is a step up in fidelity.

The shaker is great. I like it because its made for that car. until pioneer or the other big names make a radio exactly for our car im sticking with the shaker
