Default Wheel offset help

I have a questiong about wheel offset.
I found some rims I like that are size 18 x 8.5 (255/45 tires) with a 45mm offset. Would these fit my stang? These wheels also come in 19 x 8.5 (255/40 tires) with a 35mm offset. If the 18's don't fit, will the 19's fit? I have no clue on how this offset thing works..Thanks.

You should be fine with those... I believe the stock offset is +42 or +45. Make sure on backspacing will work also.

yep both will work no problem. The 19" rims with the smaller offset mean they will stick out 10mm further - closer to the body than the 18" with 45mm offset. you will have more clearance all round than I have.

As long as you dont require spacers to create the offsets you will be good. 45mm is a pretty large offset. A narrower tire might look nice if you dont want the wheels to stick out beyond the profile of the body.

would a 15x8 with a 5.5 inch backspacing and a +25mm offset fit our cars, im more concerned with off set clearing the brakes, i already of the sway bar relocation so the rim diamater isnt a problem.

This is how the offset thing works:

Say you have a 10 inch wide rim. This rim with 0 offset will mount to the car with 5 inches going out towards the body, and 5 inches going to the inside. Every 25.4mm = 1 inch. So that same 10 inch wide rim with a +50mm offset will have 3 inches going towards the outside, and 7 inches going to the inside. I have 18X10's with +45mm offset on 295/45 nittos and they sit just about perfect...see pic:

I believe it would work... as long as it is the correct wheel. Interference with the caliper is the bigger problem with 15s.

I had some 15X9.75 bogarts that cleared the brakes fine, but the design of the rim could make the difference. The clearence was very close to the caliper, so the only way to know for sure is to test fit it. As far as the offset, with 5.5 inches of backspacing the rim would only come out 2.5 inches, so that will be fine. My tens come out 3 inches.

Likewise, my 15x9, 5.5"bs Weld XPs work... but they also have a design that will clear the caliper.
