Nice job, nice writeup!!

I know you will enjoy! Have had mine for a year now, Kooks rock!

And kudos to all that do these installs in a drive way or personal garage! I go to a shop where I have lifts, tools, and professional help...

+1... Header install on jackstands is not fun or easy. I wouldn't do again, especially by myself.

Best write up I've seen. Also, very nice camera work. You've ALMOST made me consider doing this myself...nahhh!

Thumbs up

This was just what I was looking for!

Nice job explaining the process, jjmt!

I plan on doing a LT install in Jan/Feb 07 and I was wondering if I could do this on in my garage on jack stands. The answer seems to be yes , it is possible.

I did headers and cat-back exhaust on my 99 Superduty V-10 in my driveway once and it took me all of three 8 hour days, partly because I was trying to avoid cutting the factory Y-pipe, partly because I had to stop and jack the truck up higher a few times and partly because the instructions sucked.

Awesome write up! Should be a sticky!

Ohh, I want to add, make sure the car has completely cooled down before starting. But you knew this

If it took jjmt all of 10 hours and not being a mechanic like he said … how long should this install take a shop that does it every day or has done many header installs? jjmt- you didn't even have 1 meltdown? LOL nice job!

I agree. Nice job.

You should consider putting the write-up in a pdf format or something similar so it could be printed off in a clean fashion.

Thanks for the info!

It's about a 4-5 hour job for a knowledgable mechanic, with the right tools and a lift!

Great write up and pictures. You make it look easy! I may have to try this. I wanted to get LTs, but was worried about the install.

Not as easy as it looks and very time consuming. Plus each brand is a little different on installation. I had to remove my steering column and loosen the steering rack to get mine in. If you can afford to pay someone to install--do it--your hands will thank you!

That's not too bad. I wish I had that much clearance with my SLP LTs.
