Looking forward to your write up. But no matter how good it is, I will be paying someone else to install mine. Forget that, lol
Hey scramblr thank you for DOC'ing the write up.

I know most others will back me up on this (especially 5Twenty). This is one mod that's not a good idea for the typical do-it-yourselfer. It takes years of experience to become of good, consistent, gear installer. If something goes wrong, you're going to end up replacing far more than the just ring and pinion. You could be looking at an entire new rear end. Just my $.02.
well ppl with the headers and CAI and flash, Driving is much much more FUN!! I just installed the 4:10 gears this week,I will post a detailed write up on how i installed them (with pics too) installing the gears is NOT for everyone!!

So you did it! Gutsy move. How do they sound? Any whine to them?
Any chance you could post a list of specialty tools/products that were needed for this install, like Torx, threadlockers, gaskets, wiring supplies, etc? Just wondering what I'll need (that I don't have) prior to tearing into it...
Fantastic write-up! I will be following your write-up for my install when I get my Kooks after Jan 1.
Helicfii ther were no special tool needed, I used a Metrinch tool kit and 3 6 inch 3/8"drive Extensions, the Kooks came with all bolts and washers and the gaskets.
The only wireing i did was to splice a longer wire between the connectors which i used a sordeing iron some shrink tube(to seal the wires)and about 7 inches of 1/4"
id conduent ..
if you want some pics i think i took some? ill post em
Excellent job on this. I talked to a guy this weekend who said that he had to move the steering colum. I guess that is maybe in lieu of jacking up the engine?

Depends on brand. Some require steering column removal regardless. I couldn't jack my engine enough (without actually removing it) to get mine in.
And, for the Kooks as in here you will NOT have to jack the engine! They fit fine without that!!
True, but it makes life soooo much easier to lift it and take off the mounts, and it only takes 5 minutes...especially if you're on jack stands. Just my opinion...

Had mine on a lift and a high jack 6 feet away (had only heard about JBA installs and was ready) but saw no reason to lift the motor...
