I'm looking for up close pics of Ford Racing hood pins on the new bodystyle. I'd like exterior up close, the underside of the hood up close, and up close of the post mount. Can talk anybody into a quick photo shoot?
I got my set of pins in, but of course there are no instructions. It's not that big a deal, but there are a ridiculous number of washers, and I want to make sure I don't miss anything.
Also, the hole in the trim ring is much larger than the actual pin. Did you guys drill the hole to match the pin, or as large as the trim ring?
how did you drill the hood? Normal bit or stepped sheet metal bit? Pilot hole and enlarge, or one big bit?
How did you mount the pin retainer wires??
I just want to know all my options before I disassemble everything, drill the hood and then see some detail that could have been better.
Thanks!!

They do, thanks. I notice that you didn't use the small washers that came with the kit. I assumed they went under the small screws that attach the scuff plate, but I can't remember seeing them on anybody's car. Also, are your pins starting to rust? Heck, that's half the reason I bough the FRPP kit, I was hoping to avoid that issue!

Didn't use the small washers. They do rust. Since taking those pictures I've cleaned them up with some CLR. They take some maintenance to keep the rust off. Something you have to put up with if you want to use them.
Well, so be it. I guess the "stainless steel" refers to the posts only. I spent some time looking at the car this afternoon, and I figured out a way to fab a couple brackets that will allow me to mount the pins without removing the front end. They should end up just inboard of where yours are and about 4 3/4" back from the front edge. I mocked up the location and shot a couple pics to make sure I liked the look. Whenever I can do the install, I'll shoot the whole process.

hi guys...i have buy the same pins kit from brenspeed...there is a exact distance between the 2 pins?and from the pin to the end of the hood?thanks a lot
check out steeda's web site and look at their pins......nicest pins in my opinion......they are mounted in the holes that the two outside rubber hood stops are located in....when I was building my steeda I called them and their tech guy said that's where they put them......If you need any help they are great
