How I fixed: Door Panel Removal & Window Stop Adjustment.
After my car was repainted (it was damaged in a winter storm), the driver window would not fully retract into the door. At least ½ inch of the window stuck up above the top of the door (when the window was down).
The window would also catch on the plastic rain drip trim if I opened the door too fast. I didn't want the body shop or dealer messing with my car again so I fixed it myself.
I’m not a mechanic so getting the door panel off and fixing this was a huge success for me.
Welcome to AFM. And very nice write up. Well I think we'll make you a mechanic now seeing that you didn't brake anything, but next time you need to have some extra parts. Does the glass come down when you open the door? You know if it looses its program you have to re-program the windows. Hope thats not want you adjusted.
Shoot Stlwagon a PM and he can add your artical to the Tech Links.
Good job again.

Thanks to everyone for taking the time to check out the article.
The window's drop-down feature works fine. I neglected to mention that the driver window was damaged in the storm and replaced when the car was painted. That's why I was certain that the Tech just installed it too high on the window track. Nevertheless, the passenger side glass came from the factory installed to high so I knew that pulling the panel and adjusting the glass would probably work.
I decided to take the extra time and document everything because when I was trying to figure out how to remove the panel I couldn't find easy to follow instructions.
I was having problems with my passenger-side mirror seal getting hung up on the door frame as the door was opened and closed. Using your instructions; today I was able to disassemble the door panel and make the adjustment. I got lucky....just a few turns on the forward adjuster was enough keep the window from traveling too high.
I am a new member but, I have been reading the post for years.
I have an early 05 GT, built in 09/2004.
I had a similar problem, but I was able to correct it using the Ford owner's manual under the Driver's Control section. It is called Short Drop Glass. It tells how to calibrate both the up and down travel of the front windows.
"To re-calibrate the window, lower the window until it completes its travel and hold down for 2 seconds. Immediately after releasing the window down switch, pull the switch up to raise the window until it completes its travel and hold the switch up for 2 seconds."
Caution: Only do this with the door closed.
Your situation may have required you to disassemble your door, but I bet that most people will be able to fix theirs using this procedure.
Great writeup, but please tell people to try this first before tearing their doors apart

I had an issue with the drivers side window not rolling up automatically when I flipped the switch to do so. I had actually forgotten about it and let it go for awhile until I adjusted the tune in my car one day and voila!, problem solved! Not sure how that did it, but I wasn't complaining.
Hello- I am new to this and am not sure if this is the correct protocall but here goes- I have a 2001 mustang- daughter knocked off the passenger side mirror- how do I remove the inside door pannel to disconnect the mirror connector?
Thanks, jeff
