Default FRPP delete install no custom tune

my son and I just installed delete plates and BBK 62mm throttle body on his car, he sent off for a custom tune but never recieved it yet monday he's going about 60 miles (round trip) to have X-pipes installed without the tune is that good or bad for the engine.

You shouldn't need a custom tune per se, but in my SCT, there is an option to select the delete plates. I went with the canned tunes. If you still have your tuner, just select that setting until you can get your custom tune. I'm sure it will make your car run funny if the computer thinks that the plates are still there and they aren't. I wouldn't do it personally.

I wish he would have waited until the tune came back before we installed the parts (hard headed teenagers) by the way it's the Diablo sport that he's using.

It certainly isn't going to perform well without the proper tune and failsafe mode is a possibility.

My SCT tuner does not hae the option for the FRPP plates, I had to get a custom tune for them.

Well, a touble code is likely to happen. Limp Home mode is a possibility.

My SCT doesn't have it either. I wouldn't drive my car 5 miles like that much less 60. I would wait for the tune.

CUstom tune as on a dyno with full datalogging or a canned tune over the mail / e-mail?

What CAI does he use? Does he have the tuner already? Any of the 'bigger' brands CAI manuf will e-mail a better tune asap if you call or e-mail them. Also SCT and Diablo have these tunes available on their websites.

I would NOT drive it with a stock tune or just tuned for a CAI!

He's getting his tune from Doug (Bama Chips)
The cold air intake is WMS 85mm
right now he has the Diablo sport Predator performance tune 93 octane in the car.

He should go to Diablos website and look for the updates. I'm guessing WMS have nothing...??

SCT will have a tune to deleat the CMCVs on there web site? I don't remember seeing anything, but then again I wasn't really looking for it either. I'll go check it out tonight.

Even if there is one, it still really does no good unless the other mods match as well.

Failsafe is the official term for limp home mode. Basically the car cuts power to avoid damage to the drivetrain. You won't necessarily get a DTC but you will see 'failsafe mode' on the LCD dashboard display and the car won't go very fast.
