Are you planning on leaving the stock one working? If not then use the stock sending unit location. You may also think about an adapter to use both at the same location

I installed a Stewart Warner Temp Gauge and Sending Unit. I personally found the stock location under the intake too much of a pain on my 07 GT. I got a 1/8'" NPT tap and drilled into the Thermostat Housing. There is a (Boss) or raised dimple that is there to line up and stop your radiator hose. I first ground it smooth with a dremel then drilled and tapped at that location. I have had no problems and have been running it for several months now. Be sure and use non-hardening pipe sealant (not teflon tape). I also installed an Oil Pressure Gauge and Voltmeter.

Ps. I didn't say it but I obviously removed the Thermostat Housing before performing this Mod. The housing is approximately 3/4" thick at that point.

I'll take some tomorrow with my Phone Camera, Unfortunately, I'm away from home at the moment and don't have access to my better digital camera. Pics should turn out ok though since its in plain site. I deliberated alot before doing this mod but in the old days this is where the sending unit was almost always mounted. After, I completed the Mod I was glad I went with my gut. It was very easy and clean. I went through about 7 fittings on the oil pressure gauge before I found a good solution. If you or anyone else is thinking of doing this let me know. I can save you a lot of time and money.

Thanks, I crimped, Soldered, and put heat shrink at the terminal end. The Sending Unit lead wire ran up perfectly in the existing Loom. Hard to tell it wasn't put on at the factory.

Actually it's after the thermostat. As soon as the thermostat opens you will know it immediately. What I have found most interesting in watching the Water Temp and Oil Presure Gauge together is that when you "think" your engine is at proper operating temperature and ok to Romp and Stomp you'll find that your oil is still cold and therfore produces a higher Oil Pressure reading. And I use Royal Purple 5-20W Synthetic Oil. I can't imagine what the difference would be with conventional oil.
I added the Start Button and you can't Start it in Gear, Have to have clutch pedal in same as always. You can still start with key like usual or turn key to "ON" position then use Start Button. I like it just because it's I think its a cool Mod and adds to the whole "retro" and "high performace" theme I'm trying to acheive.
