Thumbs down 2007 Mustang GT Xcal2 Loading Trouble

I bought a C&L Street Intake and SCT Xcal 2 tuner with 87, 91, and 93 octane tunes for my 2007 Mustang GT from Brenspeed about a month ago. Whenever I go to load the any of the tunes I receive an error. I plugged the tuner into the odbII port and selected Program Vehicle and selected the 93 octane tune. It then stated to 'Turn Key to On, Do NOT Start', so I turned the key to On. This message stayed on the screen for about 30 seconds until I got a new message stating 'POWERUP MSG TIMEOUT'. I can check for engine codes and view the factory strategy, but cannot load a tune. I've been back and forth with Brenspeed and SCT about this issue, even swapped xcal2 units, and still no luck. I must have tried to flash the car 50 times with no luck. I checked voltages in the port and all the pins. Everything seems in order. I was wondering if anybody has had a problem like this or if anyone has an idea as to what to do? I'm just about going crazy trying to figure this out. Thanks. Ray

Are you certain they tuned it for the proper PCM calibration?

That'd be my first guess. Make sure they have the correct PCM code from under the hood. Has the dealer re-flashed your stock tune and in-turn changed the strategy code?

Thats my guess also. I'm down in K of P if you need any help PM me and I can meet you. I also got mine from Brenspeed with no problems.
I used to be a member of a Street Rod club in Birdsboro.

Good point... Dealer reflashes have been known to change the calibration code.

Well, I checked with Brenspeed about the PCM and they appear to match and the car has yet to be at the dealer since I bought it. Brenspeed seems to think that there is something wrong with the obdII port due to it not detecting key on. So now I'm not sure what to do at this point other than find someone that can look at the wiring and see if there is an issue there. I'm don't want to take it to the dealer since I don't want the possibility of losing my warranty.

Yeah, It powers on ok. It even detects Key On to pull strategy and can read for codes. This is my second unit from them to try and rule out a bad unit.

You could actually have a bad PCM.

How would I be able to find out what it is currently? And what should I do?

You could take it in to Ford and just say that you have a code reader (don't say flash tuner) and tell them it won't work in the OBDII port. Maybe that way they can at least diagnose if the port is bad.

Ok, I'll try that. I'll call them tomorrow and see when I can stop in. Thanks a lot! I'll update as I find out more.

You may also want to take a flashlight and look at those pins in the connector to see if any of them are mangled or pushed up, those pins just snap into place and one of them could have come lose from the connector.

I've checked the pins in the tuner and obdII port they appear to look fine and are clicked into place, but thanks for the advice.
