What did the dealer do to determine it was abused? They pulled the transmission and inspected it?

Do you have a better business bureau in Canada? If so, I would write a letter to them, cc all the ford dealerships in the area and you'll get a response....

clutches are a tricky area since they are considered "normal wear" parts.... I had a clutch go out in a Jeep at 11,000 miles... dealer claimed it was normal wear part and not covered... it took 2 weeks of arguing that 11,000 miles is not normal for a clutch... lots of yelling and threatening... but finally got them to cover the clutch...

your problem sounds like a clutch but could be a tranny prob. does it slip in every gear or only in one or some?

drivetrain warranty is i belive 3 years.

did the dealer confirm what was wrong? if not how can he deny warrany coverage if he does not know for sure what is wrong. if reminding the dealer of this does not work why wouldn't you write a letter or call ford directly? at the end of the day it is their responsibility.
while you are at it, make sure to tell them about how your dealer treated you.

Clutches are treated like brake pads... they are normal wear parts... which means you can have a problem getting it replaced under warranty... you wear your brake pads out in 3 years or 36,000 miles you are not going to get them replaced under warranty... unless you had a defective caliper that wore out only that one set of pads...

Calling or writing Corporate Ford will not get you any where... seems they don't care much once you buy the car...sorry, but that has been my observation...
