Spend big money or your going to be disappointed.... if you really insist on doing little things and dont plan on buying a turbo or supercharger then buy 4.10 gears and a tuner but honestly... everything i've bought it a waste except for the tuner basically, the headers i bought (which did nothing) dont even work with the turbo im getting, the CAI i have does close to nothing (the steeda one did absolutely nothing) and the axleback exhaust sounds nice but i doubt it did much of anything.
most people will say CAI+tune, but honestly, i think it's a waste

while everybody is entitled to their own opinion my 2 cents is if your lookin at F/I in the future, go ahead and get the tuner and CAI, mayb an new exhaust and even some more small go fast parts(plugs, wires, coil pack...little things add up) untill you find what you want as far as power, tq and speed. then id lock it up with a t loc, throw in some 4:10 gears...possibly look into new cams, and finally some sort of F/I...all of this is a big money pit, but the ones who make it out are the ones eating up your local track, stick with it and youll get what you want out of your 4.0, its a very tough and impressive engine, you just gotta feed it what it wants sometimes

burnrubber has some valid points but lemme add in a couple things he might not have been thinking of when typing up his post.
If you do all the bolt on stuff and then go forced induction, your going to realize you wasted alot of money, for example, the CAI and headers i got cannot be used with the Forced induction i got. If i had gotten an aftermarket x pipe like i had planned it can;t be used either so right there i would have wasted.... $300 on CAI $800 on headers, and $300 on X pipe. I also bought a t-lok for my car and had planned on buying gears but since im going F/I im going to have to buy an 8.8 inch rear end which has the gears i want and the t-lok already in it for $900 as opposed to a t-lok which is $299 with master install kit, and gears which are $200, and then $500 for both to be installed but the rear end only handles a minimal amount of horsepower......
It seemed like a good idea at the time for me to just put on small things because it didnt make big dents in my wallet but once you realize how much you spend for such little amount of horsepower, your gonna wish you just saved up for the real thing.
P.S. i was not belittling your post burnrubber, im just going through the turbo costs and installation realizing how much money i just wasted and wanted you guys to see it how im seeing it.
As for your statement on how strong the 4.0 is, that is a very true statement, it has soo much potential and man its fun being the underdog considering everyone laughs at v6's

Shorty headers will work with a turbo. It's long tubes that won't work.
i have shortys and was told that i wouldn't be able to use them but hey, we'll find out when it comes down to install day
hey xchris when you get your turbo done show us some pictures! im thinking about powerhouse411 single intercooled turbo but i dont know if i really want to invest the much already!
but for drag racing, id say the best way to go, t-lok, line lock if its an automatic, CAI,Headers,Tuner,Full exhaust, gut the interior, and if u got money left from those cheaper mods forced induction is the only way to go (ie. turbo or supercharger) gota <3 those BOV's!!!!!! turbos are fun!!! haha
$.02 ...my JBA shorties work with my Xcharger supercharger, smog tube bolts right up to it. The tuner is a must with any FI,period.
the reason I went xcharger is mainly ease of installation. Didnt have to remove the front bumper to mount the intercooler tubing nor drill a hole in the oil pan for the return line (on a certain Model)Not even really necessary to modify the exhaust ,except add a gt muffler. Turbo's have intercoolers which are better than non inter cooled superchargers.Xcharger is working on an intercooler for theirs. Steeda is also using Xchargers by explorer express on their new model V6.
supercharger vs turbo charger is like coke vs pepsi....
One of the guys at ELD but he isn't the guy working on my car, he may have been thinking something else when he said it, we'll find out when the turbo comes which probably won't be for awhile.... i ordered it like thursday i think and he said it'll ship in 2-3 weeks and then take 3-4 days to get here so.... now im jus chillllllin
