Default X-Charger Intercooler!

has anyone seen or heard any news about the intercooled x that was supposed to be out soon? supposedly it was set for this year sometime but i havent heard much. all i knew was that it was in its preliminary staging/tuning and that they were seeing 30-40+hp gains in mock up systems. so im hoping itll be more like 50 extra ponies or so, im definately, positively, abesolutely darn tootin gonna get an x charger in the spring so ill wait untill it comes out and be one of the first guys with it. also ill have a play by play install guide too

It's due to be out by the end of the year...
Don't need a play by play... the manual is just that and there's also a forum post on the collective with comments from quite a few owners that self installed, tons of good info in the post. Many of us X owners hang there.
The first guys "with it" will be current X owners that have been waiting impatiently

You guys will need to bump your timing to take advantage of the extra cooling or add a smaller pulley.

No it isn't. I think it's at "Any day now" status.

can we get some explanation jim? i talked to dave the other day, they sent the castings off for final fit before production. any day seems about right. and i know roughly how much itll cost but i dont wanna go slinging it all over the forums w/o permission. said theyre seeing 30-40 hp increase over a non intercooled x-hipo with 91 on a california safe tune along with stock single exhaust. add in duals, bump it up to 93oct and should be able to squeeze even more out of her.

as you said,,here you are at the end of summer,,, these units were supposed to be here by summer. Not to fault Dave or anyone else because stuff happens to slow things down,,,just dont expect them anytime soon and you wont be dissappointed. As far as HP goes these figures are always inflated, always. They are ballpark figures and "your results may differ" should be included.
4 HP for this,6 HP for that etc...
I have one ( Xcharger) and My results are definetly different,,,on the low side. It has been dynoedand all that and still doesnt perform as "advertised" because "your results may differ"
Maybe its me...sour grapes...but I am not intending go the intercooler route for an unknown, overratted potential HP gain...

I do like the Xcharger and Dave is a great guy but my particular application is not working as well as expected...no 13's for me..

P.S. I have a feeling it will be in the neighbohood of $1500.00 and that a lot for maybe 30 hp,,,at best..on a good day

Thumbs up Dyno Results - Is IC worth it?

Hi Mr. Jimmy:
2008 v6 convert - x-charger #109:
You raise good points - Is an IC which adds 30-50hp worth it? For me, I am interested in lower rpm torque and hp - because I do mostly city driving on wide streets and local freeways. But it is very hot in thesummer - often over 113F with 14% humidity at 1650 ft above sea level.

I have attached my 3 sequential dyno reports which occured as various mods were done over about 9 months. Using my favorite 2500 rpm stat, I note that the factory stat was 110 ftlbs and 110 rwhp. After TB and a 4.10 8.8. and a tune at a high quality local performance shop those numbers were about doubled to 230 ftlb and 220 rwhp. The top end rwhp fell off dramatically at 5700 rpm - and led me to go with the x-charger.

Next we added the x-charger and Bama tune which gave us 250 ftlbs and 130 rwhp at 2500 rpm. Of course the rwhp rose to 264.8 at 5700 rpm.

I post these 3 dyno reports for all to see - to make up their own minds. I want to know the effect of the IC at 2500 rpm and 5700 rpm, and in between.

You have pretty much the same car I do before you started modding it, and you appear to have all of the mods I am considering getting (one day), so I am greatly interested in your results. Would you mind posting up your stats?
