do headlight blackouts cut down drastically on headlight power? or are you able to see everything close to or just as well
It will cut down on visability. It's just like a tinted window.
I'd check your state and local laws before you buy them.
Many cops will give you a ticket for having them on the car because it blocks your turn signals along with the tail light black outs.
If they are illegal you can pick up a pair of smoked head lights and your in the clear.

If you mean "smart" as in lookin good? then go for it. I really like the look of the blacked out headlights. If they are illegal, then bummer, but if they are legal in your sate/county then go for it, if you can't see, then turn on the high beams or get some foglights and try that, and if still you don't like how much light you have, then go back to clear. They don't cost soo much that it will break your bank to try them out.
by smoked turn signals are you actually talking about tinting your stockers? or buying the ones with the black housing with a clear-slightly tinted lens? if it's the black housings, it's just a matter of unscrewing your factory signals, and plugging in the new ones. if you're talking about actually tinting your stockers, you'll have to take them out, have them tinted and put right back in. as far as how hard it is to get them out, it'll take you about 20 minutes to get both side out, and that's if you actually take off the 2 front wheels to get to them.
I bouoght the tinted covers for my headlights. They looked great when they were on during the daylight hours however they dim the beams too much so I was constantly putting them on and off (they just clip on). I said enough is enough and said that was a dumb move on my part for the sake of apprearance. The lens covers now are sitting oin the shelf and I got color matched headlight splitters which suit me just fine.

m g/f bought a car that had clear parking lights in the frt with blue bulbs. she got stopped for it. i could be wrong, but i think my factory headlights are smoked a little...unless its just the black background in them

i bought mine with smoked head/tail lights. i ended up having to take the headlight covers off, they are just too dim. They look great, but even when running with high beams on, its about half the visibility of reg headlights.
My friend has the covers and he has to take them off at night. I wouldn't suggest doing it on a v6 unless you have the pony package b/c when I had my v6 I had awful visibility and my lights werent even tinted on that. I can imagine how bad it would be with covers.

Installing the turn signal lights is easy. Took me about 30 mins to do both. I didn't take the front wheels off, I just turned the tires all the way to the right of left depending on which signal I was installing and just went through the wheel well. I hope you dont mind getting dirty.
