Smile GT Grill installed on V6 bumper and polished

Well Thursday my apartments were painting outside and put a car cover on the girlfriends car (v6 mustang) i go to take the car out and there are scratches across the hood. I talk to the manager of the painting company, he says have the car detailed and bring him the bill. But wouldn't you know it, I can do it myself and bill him myself for something i was planning on doing that weekend anyway. So I'm getting paid to do something i was gonna do anyway. Well either way here are some pictures of the nice clean car, and GT grill installed.

Nice... Is that an actual GT grill or one made to fit the V6?

It's a real GT grille.

If you look close you can see the tell-tale "GT grille in v6 bumper" overhang across the bottom of the grille. It fits, but that gap bugs the crap out of me.

So how did you fare getting the grille in there? It took me 2 1/2 hours and a six pack of Newcastle for me to get mine in there although I was working by myself.

the bullit grill is the one i`d like to have too. its the same size as the gt and i`m not sure but i think the chrome stip( i wish it didnt have) is back on the inside of the grill. if you pull the grill surround loose, out past the headlights, the gt grill is suppose to go into it with some liquid soap in the corners then you tweek it a little pushing it back in place. thats what i saw on a video. now do i take a chance and spend the 300.00 and hope its true? so i gotta ask myself, do ya feel lucky,,,punk

Yeah its the center area of the grille, about 3 inches in from either side it protrudes out over the grille by about 1/4". You can't tell unless you get down at eye level with the bottom of the grille though.

If you look at the second picture that he posted you can tell because you can see the bottom of the grille (where its pointy) and then you can see the reflection of the bottom of it off the bumper. Like I said, you can't really tell but it is there.

It has never really sat right with me, the way that the grille fits in there and all. I don't like having a gap there even if 98% of people won't notice it. I still know its there and it bugs me. The possibility of my return to the v6 look has been slowly but surely increasing since the excitement of the install wore off.

Then again, maybe its time for me to take up where the last guys left off and put some real GT fog lamps into a real v6 grille...

It went pretty well. Took the bumper off, trimmed out the back area in the corners to give relief for the new grill to fit in, shaved down the edges of the girll to get it to sit a bit more flush in the corners and on the side. and used some self tapping screws (6) to be exact, 1 on each of the 2 corner tabs, and one inside each of the foglight holes where it cant be seen from the outside. I just took the bumper off to do it all. Took a few hours. Im going to pull it back off and trim the lip of the grill down so its flush, cut it then do progressive grits of sand paper to get the same texture, and maybe do bumper coat or a texture coat to make it match the rest of the grill. All in all worked great, and looks WAY better.

Now just waiting to get the tint for the fogs, not a huge fan of the headligh, foglight, big mustang, fogflight, headlight reflection.

The girlfriend is out of town so she has yet to see it, but i know she will be happy.

so you dont have to cut, trim and drill like Counterfiend did, from the video that i saw. looks like amustangrocks saw the same vid as me and also has the saem idea and ? so will the bullitt grille fit the same? im not too worried bout the overhang...no biggie im nt gonna be in any car shows anytime soon i dont think so ill forget about it sooner or later. looking to order my grille soon cuz im tired of the v6 stock one and my car needs a good wash/wax

counterfiend, thats a nice lookin car. the grill looks pretty good in there. to tell the tuth, most of the factory v6 grills dont sit just perfect anyway. you can only do so much with plastic. from the overhang and body line on the bumper, it looks like it might be a little thicker( depth wise) than the stock. is that the case?
