can anyone recommend quieter mufflers that will work with the Ford perfromance pack? (Cat-Back true Dual Exhaust System with X Pipe, part # M-5230-V6)
they are a bit loud for me and I'm looking for something with a little less noise, but still good performance (low flow restriction), and will fit right in the valence cutouts.
One Gt Muffler,,,,,,,,,, With the stock v6 exhaust.
The stock v6 muffler is to quiet , and weighs ten pounds more than a GT muffler. I bought a pair of GT Take offs for 40, plus 35 shipping, and am quite happy with the sound of the single GT muffler on my six.

i have 2 stock ones take ofs,and 2 flowtech terminators for gt ,so the flowtechs(made by holley)were relly old school muscle car sound, but were too quiet for me so i got the stingers, but on v6 will sound really good, and the stock ones well you know how they sound, the flowtechs have 3" chrome slant tips i'll sell you the flowtechs for 70+shipping and the stocks for 40+ shipping let me know
i`m real happy with the gt takeoffs. enough sound to get noticed, but i dont rattle windows and set off car alrarms going down my street. thats with the h pipe though. got the mufflers from ninosport.com

I sure appreciate y'all's advice

I had the same experience: GTA mufflers were too loud on the V6 duals system.
My solution was just like the least-expensive suggestions above: GT takeoffs. Nice sound, fit perfect, sound like the GTAs but muffled. Very nice.
I put the GTAs on the GT, and they work good there: louder than standard, not too loud, good noise back there, no drone.

OK I'm new to this car so I don't know a whole lot about it, or Mustangs in general. You say the GT takeoffs will bolt right in to replace the Ford Racing v6 mufflers? That sounds good, I'm definitely interested in those. Can you send me photos? (I'm need to see what the tips look liike)
could always look into the good ol' hushpower 2s from flowmaster, same flowmaster exhaust flow, about 40-50 % of the noise if you use the full system (cats, resonators, mufflers). heard these on alot of v8s, sound great at WOT, quiet as hell while idleing. never heard one on a 6.
Just how much quieter are the GT mufflers than the GTAs. I have the GTAs on my car now and really would like something with a little less noise. It's hard to tell from listening to sound clips on the internet.

GT mufflers are some quieter than the GTAs. On my V6 convertible the GTAs were not obnoxious to me, but louder than I liked. I put the GT mufflers on and they are noticeably quieter, but not quiet.
The GT/CS comes with the same mufflers as the GT, with shiny rolled tips. I put the GTAs on the GT/CS coupe, and you may be able to get a sense of the difference between the two sets from this description:
The stock mufflers were so quiet with the windows closed I could not shift effectively "by ear", couldn't hear it running at a stop sign, just barely heard it at highway cruise, could not judge engine speed in most conditions; opening the windows didn't improve it by much, so I put the GTAs on it, and with them
Sound at cruise (windows closed) is there but doesn't interfere with conversation, if I listen for it I can hear the exhaust for up-down shifting, and at idle; widows open, it is quite a bit louder in all modes.
If there are no differences in sound insulation between the V6 and GT coupes, you'll pretty much lose the exhaust sound, windows closed. Or lose enough of it that the GTAs might seem pretty outrageous in comparison.
I believe the GTAs were louder on the V6 than they are on the V8. Might have to do with the "X" versus "H" pipes.
Did you have the GTA's on yours? or were they GTB's? Just curious. (Gta's have the 4" tips)
