I have a '07 and it's squeaking from I have no idea where. But at a standstill it squeaks and it does increase with rpms, I have a manual transmission and the belt isn't damaged by the looks of it. But the sound seems to be louder when its cold out. I think it might have been caused by when I hit a gaurdrail in West VA, but I'm not sure. I just want to fix it so when I install my pro-charger I won't run into any problems, or even if it will affect it. Any ideas?
Could still be the belt or it could be an idler pulley or the tensioner. Hit the idlers individually with a squirt of WD40 on the bolt and see if the sound decreases or goes away.
After you lube the idlers like stlwagon said, if it is still there, try to hit the belt with some belt conditioner. Sometimes a belt may not look worn, but squeals anyway. Belt dressing can fix that.
I took off the belt and spun every pulley.
The only one to make a sound was the water pump pulley, and then it stopped squeaking after a few spins. Then I put the belt back on and the sound was gone for a week or so. I was going to put WD40 on it but a friend suggested that it might cause problems later on and I wasn't really sure either so I didn't bother. But I'll go do that some time this week and get back to you guys. Thanks
