I didn't have to.... that doesn't mean that there aren't grills out there that the instructions tell you to do so.... but if you are talking about a v6 specific grill (not shoehorning a GT grill into the v6) then it really only takes a few minutes. couple of push pin fasteners, some tugging and persuading, and old grill is out, line up new grill and snap in place. Easy squeazy.
