Ok i know the whole thing about if you want to upgrade your 7.5 its better to get the 8.8. But what about if i just want the T-lock, not the gears and im going to run N/A for sure. Im happy with the 3.31 but i dont like the 1 wheel spin. So if i only want a Posi T-lock would it be too difficult to install?? I mean i wont do it myself, im going to a shop but how much is it going to cost me labor wise? I heard that for t-lock you dont have to touch the ring and pinion and the adjustments stay the same as stock. Anyone can help me on this???!!!

thats the same thing i want to do come next summer.. you will have to remove and install your ring gear onto the new diff. but when these parts are made, the specs are tight. there shouldnt be much problem swapping it out, but the gears should be checked at the time of install to make sure they are running properly. no idea what that would cost to have done.

Ok thanks. I was thinking that I barely go to track and the car is my DD so why should I change the gears but the 1 wheel spin is embarrasing for a stang. In fact I went to a Charger forum to see what they say about our stang. First their site sucks, you can't do a normal search. Second their v6 with 250 hp trq runs mid 16 and with CAI tune mid 15. I ran 15.3 all stock so now I understand how much weight is important. Plus they have a 2.80 something gears and 3.30 is heaven for them so we guys are lucky having 3.31 from start. Ok sorry for the long story but my point was my gears are good but a Posi is really needed that's why trying to see how much it would run me. Btw I found couple posi on ebay very cheap does it matter what kind to use if its in good condition and do i need to buy additional parts when going to the shop? Thnx

i feel the same. breaking one tire loose is just not too cool. the factory gear in 67 was 279. the 331 is not bad. i just got my tuner and cai but not installed yet. if i get the performance i`m hoping i wont care about any more gear. my car is my dd too and i want to run the highways, or to take a trip, why give up milage. i dont race on the tracks, i`m not looking to have the baddest v6 on the road. ive seen the posi diff takeoffs( which is like new) for 199.00. that install is not that bad of a job. i dont have all the answeres, i`m sure some other guys will post on this topic.

Yes, factory v8's came with tall gears like 2.79 and 3.0's in the 60's but you have to remember, the wheels were usually only 14 inches!!! and with a 60 series tire, the total tire height was probably only 24-25 in tall for a BIG tire on those cars. A Stock 16 inch mustang tire is 27 tall, and if you go any bigger, your rpm's go in the toilet. Gears are a must if you ever plan on putting a bigger (at least taller) tire in back. Right now with my tires (27.85 in tall in back) I am running about 1800 rpm at 60mph on the freeway!! I usually take it out of overdrive and let her run at 2500 instead because at 1800 there just isn't any pull.
Cool, I've seen a site that has ridiculosly cheap deals. Like $375 for a 8.8 rear 3.31, $600 for 3.55, $690 3.73 and $790 for the 4.10 I have to dig it out from my bookmarks but definitely better prices than newtakeoff but I dont know if they have good reps.

If you find that website, post it so some of us can look at it and see if the differentials are worth buying or just cheap used stuff.Haven't heard anything negative about the 8.8 from newtakeoff for the V6.

Ok here it is, you definitely cant beat their prices, like the Mac dual is 500 from Mac, $470 ninosport but they have it for 405. Please let us know if anyone purchased from them before, looks like they have good stuff. BTW there are 2 4.10s available so you better hurry up guys.
