I wanna drop a 5 speed GT in my car and new takeoff can get me everything I need from the GT for about 3k. Would I be able to do that? I have a feeling stl knows the answer to this, so thanks in advance

Do you want to swap your tranny for the GT 5-speed tranny? (the tr3650) or are you saying you want to swap everything in your car out for GT parts? (motor, tranny, driveshaft, shocks, struts, springs, sway bars, rear end, brakes, wiring harness, PCM, gauge cluster, shifter, etc.)

just the tranny lol i want a 5 speed and selling the car isn't an option and i found someone to buy my old transmission so can i take the gt transmission and just put it into my car or will that not work?
Someone knowledgeable is going to have to answer this, I'm not sure of the complication involved in switching from an Automatic to a Manual Transmission, the V6's automatic transmission is the same as the GT's, but if you're switching out just because you want a Stick, then see if you can get a V6 transmission for cheaper, i bet you can, unless you plan on making 350 hp+ go with a V6 transmisison, they're rated up to that much.

No matter what you do your gonna get crap for either having a v6 or having an auto or both, sell the car later in life and be happy you have a nice new car for now, there will always be time to get that GT

really? whats the point? your buddies are ragging on your for driving an auto right? tell them the fastest cars at the track are 2,3, or 4 speed autos.
No matter what you do your gonna get crap for either having a v6 or having an auto or both, sell the car later in life and be happy you have a nice new car for now, there will always be time to get that GT
no ones ragging on me at all actually. all my friends have autos. i just regret not spending more time finding a 5 speed.
There's a guy who frequents the forums at 40collective.com who has developed an adapter plate to swap tr6060's (the GT500 6-speed) and tr3650's (the GT 5-speed) into the 4.0 mustang.
But his swap was from the t-5 manual to the tr-6060, even so you might hit him up for info. I believe his handle over there is "flapjack"

included that 3 grand was the flywheel drivetrain shifter etc. everything i'd need. i read some posts by the guy who did the swap and he's saying either find someone doing the 4.6 or 5.4 swap and buy their transmission from them, or just find a wrecked one and pull it off. thanks though
If you have 3k to blow why not just save a little more and get a turbo or supercharger. I wish I had the time to look for a manual when I got my car too but my old car died and needed a new one so after spending 2 weeks I ended up with a auto. Anyway if I had 3k to blow I would save a little more and go for some f/i and really have some fun.
