2008 V6 - Will not start - No lights or sound
I did a forum search before posting and everything I found involved clicking or some noise, while mine is totally dead...
Hey guys,
When I went out to start my car this morning, the remote didn't work to unlock it; did not trigger any lights or anything. I was a little worried, but I unlocked with the key.
However, when putting the key in the ignition, no lights or sounds come on (except the little airbag icon, strangely...), and turning the key does nothing. There is no clicking, beeping, ANYTHING, it seems to be totally dead. The car is less than 6 months old and not modded in any way yet. The remote didn't work a couple weeks back when it got really cold, but it did start, and then it worked fine afterwards so I didn't really think about it at the time. No lights/heater/radio or anything were left on, I double checked.
I guess this could be the battery, but it isn't making any clicking or anything, it almost sounds like a short...
Any ideas of what this might be? Car's still new so I'm not too happy >_<.
Although odd about the seatbelt light being on, but my first guess is battery cable at the battery terminal. I'd check that first. Then, obviously, battery charge.
Then without hesitation, I'd call the dealer or the road service number in your glove box.
Keep us posted.
Unrelated: Out of curiosity, why do you have the 3.8 emblem as your avatar? Your's would be a 4.0 liter, right?

Heh, yeah, the 3.8 was the default avatar when I signed up...I had planned to upload pics but never got around to getting good ones, and its winter, so I never ended up changing it @_@.
Anyway, I had it jumped and it starts now, still very weird behavior...will keep an eye on it over the next couple days and update what happens.
Strange for a new car, could be dead battery or lose connection at the terminal, no power or power can not be transfered out. Have a look at the battery, check the terminals and battery voltage see if you can see anything worng. the issue with the remote sometimes they do not work due to interferance mine does the same somtimes does not work in the garage. My 08 v6 has battrey prtection from factory so if you leave something on it will protect the battery. but if you can't find the cause call the dealer.
hmph....mine does that too...since its winter i leave it in the garage and try to start it every now and then and let it run for a while, get some fresh air. but 2 or 3 times this winter it is just dead. so i keep my charger near by, and after a few min it starts right up, no worries. another ? tho im not sure of, when my battery dies, will it lose its tune? it seems to run fine, i just always worry about messing my tune up and losing my stock code in case i have to take advantage of my 100000mi warranty that i continuously void on a regular basis with my mods. lol

if you have any friends in the computer or automotive world they might have a multimeter and you can check the voltage of your battery, you can also try jumping it and if you still dont even get your power locks to work you probably just need a new battery, try to find one with some more CCA (cold cranking amps)

I am the owner of a 2008 Mustang GT. I am experiencing similar problems. I leave the car sit for a few days and it is completely dead. Requiring a jump. Do you have a stick? Maybe you have a short in the Clutch pedal I mentioned that to them but they said there computer doesnt show a pull from the battery. So needles to say this is in the shop. I did see that they replaced the radio prior to me purchasing it and it still seems to be a problem so I was sold a car that wouldnt hold a charge for more than a few days

we havent had any battery issues with the 05 auto or the 06 manual. i just replaced my battery though in the 05 to avoid any future hassles. you could pull your battery and charge it and have it load tested at any auto parts. i will only buy one brand battery, no matter how far i have to go or what i have to go though to get it.

hey before you do anything, pop the caps off the battery and check the water level. fill if needed. then put a charger on it for a while. use a battery tester on each cell( you can get one at any auto parts for a couple bucks) and see what the tester says. if any of the cells seem to have really cloudy water, that cell is bad. 1 bad cell = bad battery

Weeeee...turned out to be a short in a cable leading to the battery, coupled with a not-so-good stock battery. Ended up having the dealer look at it twice (since its under warranty) and since they didn't fix it the first time I got a new Interstate battery for free =p. Been running a week or so with no problems now.
Well spoke with them today. They are going to replace the Satellite module. They think it may be pulling so will see I go on travel next week so if I get the car back tomorrow it will be sitting for a week. I'll let you all know what the outcome is. If it dies this will be like the 3rd time since I have had it and that is not a good thing. The history of the car shows the radio has been already replaced once prior to me buying it from the dealer.
