You can definitely do it. There are a lot of different techniques that people have used to do it, but it all comes down to one basic concept; fitting a round peg into an oval shaped hole.
Long story short; its not meant to fit but it can be squeezed in there. It fits well enough to fool 98% of people into thinking its stock. Most other mustang owners will not be able to tell the difference but it doesn't fit perfectly.
