Default Help! GT takeoff Muffler. Single.

Here is a link to dual exhaust GT mufflers. My question is can i change out my muffler to this one. But im going to stick to single exhaust. So will this work for my V6? And this a legit and a good price. If anybody has these how do you like them and send me a vid please. Thanks.

Should work great, a ton of folks (including myself) run this setup. It's a do it yourself swap if your into that kind of thing.

Nice a throaty sound when you get on it, but still mellow when just crusin'.

You'll absolutely love it. I switched to a single GT takeoff and I'm very happy with it. That price definitely isn't bad, but I posted up on one of our local mustang forums asking if anyone had a set laying around, and a guy sold me his pair for $20, and they had less than 5,000 miles on them.

It's a simple diy install as long as you're patient. The worst part about the swap for me was getting my old muffler off. Rusted bolts are a pita, particularly the one that clamps around the pipe. After that I just stuck her on there and tightened it up real good. I didn't even have any issues getting mine to line up like some people do.

Most replies here to that question claim a 5-10 HP gain over the restrictive stock muffler.

Just take it of attached to the muff. It is a resonance dampner, and the GT mufflers don't have/need one. Think of it as a huge paperweight. One of the benies of swaping for an aftermarket muff... weight loss

Its like bolted in man
The muffler is clamped to the over axle tube about 12 inches towards the front of the car. That is the only "solid" mounting point they have. The hangers do just that.... hang. There are two L shaped steel hangars sticking up from the muffler that are inside some rubber grommets, like hanging. Just loosen the clamp on the back of the muffler, and give it some wiggling while you push the over-axle tube up and away. The muffler should just slide off from the over axle tube. Once it is detached then it simply is a matter of just sliding the muffler out of its hangars. That dangly thing attached to the muffler will stay on it (the muff) while you remove the muff. Your other option it to un-bolt the hangar brackets from the frame of the car, then remove the clamp from the over axle tube, This may be easier for someone who hasn't done this job before. Install of the GT muff is exact reverse .Should take you "like" 30 minutes in your driveway with a few hand tools.

Ok, I am gonna give you the bennifit of the doubt that this is actually stumpin you. and I am not gonna shout, but I have said this before in this answer to your question. Ignore it, dont touch it, pretend it doesn't exist, leave it attached, it is a ghost, it doesn't matter, you don't have to take it off, leave it attached to the muffler, take the muffler off with it still attached to the muffler, remove the muffler with said item still on, it doesn't need to come off, it can stay atached, it is not in any way going to effect the removal of the muffler, you can take the muffler off without touching it, or looking at it, or thinking about it...

I'm done being a smartass now. hope I answered your question this time
