Default Tuner's is it for everybody??

Guys--

I have acouple of questions...

How does a tuner work?
Is it easy to use?
Can there be any harm to your car with a tuner?
Are the presets? Do you have to be engine savy?
What brand do you recommend?
How much horse power will it add?
Are there any drawbacks?
Does it take away from warranty?

I recently got the Mustang true dueled and yes I felt a difference in the horsepower? Much faster!!!

Just wondering if any JOE can use this. I love to drive and have enjoy transforming my mustang with all the extra but when it comes to turning a wrench and engine talk that is where you will lose me.

Thanks guys

A tuner takes a prewritten program and uploads it to your cars computer. This computer program manages everything your engine does.
Is it easy to use?
Yes it is quite simple
Can there be any harm to your car with a tuner?
If the tune is bad it could potentially harm your engine yes. However, with trusted people like Brenspeed and Bamachips, there is nothing to worry about.
Are the presets? Do you have to be engine savy?
No you don't have to be engine smart
What brand do you recommend?
There are two SCT and Diablo. I use SCT X3 and I like it. If fact that is what the majority of people here use.
How much horse power will it add?
It all depends on the tune. It could add 25 horses with a 93 octane tune. But results vary.
Are there any drawbacks?
The price.
Does it take away from warranty?
If ford can prove that the tune caused the issue then yes. Most of us here return everything to stock when there is work that ford needs to do.

Hope that answered some of your questions.

The best bang for the buck is the CAI and Tuner combo.

using a tuner is like using the ronco rotisserie

set it and forget it ( sept drive her hard )

Vlad got it down pretty well. It can add a nice bit of power, improve shift point, read codes, data log. They are great things, all you have to do is plug it into the data port under the steering wheel and follow the on screen instructions. SCT is my favorite, but I have also seen people use the diablo predator and it works just as well. Buying a custom tune from a tuner like Bamachips will give you the best results.

though the tuner alone will greatly improve your performance, alone it will not get you 20 h.p.. if you want to take advantage of your exaust system, your gonna want to add a cai( cold air intake) along with the tuner. so instead of paying 379.00 for just a tuner, for around 500 you can get a jlt cai/sctx3/ 3 custom tunes combo deal. its a great deal on a good cai. call chris rose at tillman speed a site sponsor. 610-497-5776. you can always get a custom email tune from bamachips or brenspeed later on should you feel the need to check out someone else`s tunes.( i should be on tillmans payroll by now)

very easy to use and highly reccomended. SCT is at the top of my list. take a look at bamachips.com and look at CAI/Tuner/Custom Tune Packages. You can buy a tune for higher octane gas and take advantage of more power that is available. running higher octane gas w/o a tune will get u nowhere...but 50$ extra will make a world of difference.
