Default 2006 v6 Mustang problems with acceleration and stuttering

Hey guys, Ive been searching the web for a good site to post my problem and i ended up here, so hopefully i can get some nice feedback to answer my question.

Recently while driving my 2006 v6 Mustang, the car has began to act up. It all began while I was driving back home and i was just about to run out of gas when my car started to stutter when i was at a red light and even while driving. At first i thought i was fine and it was just my car running low on gas. I filled up shortly after my care started to shake and it seemed to go back to normal. Well the next day while driving, whenever i would come up to a red light and came to a stop the whole car would shake and whenever i would accelerate the car would stutter before getting up to speed.

Even more recently my check engine light has come on but only for a while. Whenever i drive, the CEL turns off. As of now my car does not shake or stutter at all, but the acceleration seems really slow, and if i punch the gas too hard its almost like my car cant handle it.

Im about to take it into the shop but i was looking to see if anyone else had the problem i am experiencing.

My mustang is completely stock except for a new BoomTube exhaust that i put on about a month ago.

Thanks, Matt

mine did that too, no CEL though. i got new spark plugs, air and fuel filter and its good now.
it could be a number of things, i would check for code(s) first. that might solve your problem right away.

i've also read here that fried coils can also lead to vibration at idle.

I'm having a similar problem with the stuttering while accelerating between 40-50mph. I noticed it with the 93 octane tune from Bamachips after I refueled with grocery store gasoline to save money. The problem stopped when I finally emptied the tank and refueled with a good brand. Unfortunately, I've retuned down to the 87 octane tune (because the price of premium has skyrocketed again) and the problem has returned--only worse. I've

Sorry...hit the enter button...anyway, I've notice a dull rattling as well and was wondering about the codes as well. I know nothing about them. Will a code show up on the dash? Or is there some other way, short of taking the car somewhere, to find out what might be the problem (low on bucks). Thanks.

1st I would find out why the cel is on. The ecu should hold the code even though the light is out. if you have 50,000 or more miles change the fuel filter and plugs. Boom tube exhaust add on would not have anything to do with your problem. The good thing is the cel came on.

i believe the handheld tuner used that u used to upload the custom tunes can also read codes. also make sure u dont return to the stock tune if u have an aftermarket intake, unless u go back to stock on that too.

actually Ron made a good point, ive also noticed that when i run sunoco 87 octane, the car hesitates and honestly the acceleration is slower. when i run shell 87, it does wonders. i thought this was all in my head, till i did half a tank of sunoco 87 and right after i did shell 87. very noticiable difference in how the car runs.

only way i would go back to sunoco now is if i get a tune for 94 octane, sunoco is the only one here that goes above 91 with their ultra 94.

First to snowmans--sorry, I didn't mean to hijack your thread or anything. Second to limed--thanks for your input regarding the gasoline brand. I've had no problems from Shell--in fact, the 93 octane was noticeably different and the 87 didn't seem to bring any problems. It's when I change to Sunoco or to a convenience or grocery store pump (either 87 or 93) that the problems start. I was starting to think I was crazy (ok, I am crazy, but...). Thanks again for the input. I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and spend the extra few bucks on the better brand for a better ride. Come to think of it, maybe I'll just go back to the 93 tune altogether--a MUCH better ride.
