Default V6 Drive Shaft and how not to lose it

Who said the V6 does not spit out the drive shaft like the big brother GT. Seems a buddy from the Legend Lime Registry did just that yesterday. Check out the video.

stock ford DS... the V6 version tends to come apart at 130 MPH... The U-joints are not clipped in... they are staked in... (this was later changed to clips sometime in 06). The stakes get forced back over at the high speeds and let the u-joint cap walk out... needless to say things get really ugly...

This is probably the reason the V6 is speed limited to 112MPH...

Phew, I thought it was an aftermarket shaft.

Yea it was the stock V6 driveshaft. He has taken it drag racing several times too. He said he has to replace the exhaust, fuel tank and a few more things under there.

He's lucky that's all. Could have lost the tranny and windowed the block.

yep... it' more of a rotational speed than power issues... I've to the same DS... i've hit it with 450+ ft/lbs when I was on the N20... BUT I have NEVER gone over 120MPH... I only trap at 107MPH and on the dyno it's about 120MPH...

so can the u-joints in the stock drive shaft be replaced when they go bad or do you have to buy a whole new shaft?

That car had GT headlamps... and what is a Mach 1?

Maybe he meant Mock 1

Still and all, I hated watching that. Don't dynos have brakes? Maybe the operator opted for safety rather than hanging out to save the car. I don't know how far away the operator's station is.

I guess without the operator, the only person to stop the back wheels would be the guy in the driver's seat, hitting the brakes or pulling the e-brake.

Just sickening.

I know what you mean. I think he now has a parts car and some other parts so he should be all set.

wow thats scary. imagine that happening while driving on the road. I guess no more pushing 120 plus in my V6. I turned the speed limiter off in mine and can easily go over 120. I guess I wont be doing that anymore! Well unless I change my driveshaft out to a much stronger one

I think that's a GT. it has the fogs, it has the stance, and it has the painted rockers. I mean of course all of this can be done to a V6, but i feel like its a GT rather than a V6.
