I would never put neons on the stang, but you guys dont think the chasers in the hood scoops would be sweet? Hmmmm.... I guess I wont then...they would probably cost a ton of money anyway.
Take a look at my profile, you can see them in my 82. A guy I used to work with and I made a little circuit and put them in my scoop. I used 10 regular auto bulbs and used red plexiglass with velcro to cover it. That was over 25 years ago. I rarely used them because of the cop thing, but the local police saw them while I was parked at a convienience store and liked them. I did get a lot of stares from them. Would I do it again?....No. Eat your heart out stlwagon.

I think it looks cool...I also dont understand where the ricer comparisons are coming from.

you can probably install them just like any other neon light bar. you just decide where/how to mount them in your hood. they sell neon light bars at autozone that pulse with music/voice you can adjust how sensative you want them or you can have them on constantly. to wire them up to a switch get a 3 prong switch +/-/accesories and then the neon light with 1 positive 1 ground wire. take the ground from the neon and place it to the closest ground take the positive of the neon and run it to the accesories on the switch. take the positive from the switch and run it to a positive ignition wire or always hot power wire. then take the ground and run it to the closest ground. this will light the light properly you just decide where to mount/run everything they make different size/shape rocker switches

like the others, i think it is a silly idea(unless making a k.i.t.t. clone), but if its something you like, then ill try to help.
not sure if you like other types of cars like street rods or mini trucks, but if you are im sure you noticed the custom length led tail lights they use(the mini truck "mini caddy" lights might work). they come in several shapes and sizes, and some come with enclosures that are waterproof. its all a matter of finding one that comes close to fitting the size of the scoops in the hood. then if you want them to strobe, get a strobe kit and mount them up remotly as a standalone unit..
i have seen some interior neon kits that are small enough to work as well,(even pulsing and strobing kits) but ive only heard bad things about neon ...short bulb life, inconsistant brightness throughout the bar, ect..
personally, i like the subtle look, and wouldnt do this, but its your car and if you like it, then thats all that matters. thats whats so cool about mustangs..so many different looks can be cool
Hey all, I have the GT500KR style hood on order, and was wondering if anybody has seen or knows if the Knight Rider hood lights are for sale anywhere. I think that would be sweet to install...
I'm not aware of any light kits like this but I suggest you going to your local custom sound or body shop and asking them. Those guys are the best think tanks when it comes to this stuff and the ideas they come up with are usually nothing short of awesome.
Oh, last thing I want to clarify is too make sure they're good at what they do. Just like any business, you have your good ones, bad ones and exceptional ones
If you do get this done, please post pics (preferably a movie!!). While it's not something a lot of the other people here would do (myself included), who gives a s**t. I'd love to see a movie after it's done!!

Im with you on the lights I think they're pretty sweet and dont see the ricer connection, if it makes you smile when you get in your car or look at it then get it. so long as its within reason price wise

save yourself the headache and dont do it. As cool it it would look you would be pulled over like every 50 feet.
^^ well thats common sense you dont put it on while driving like parking lot or carshow.. lol any questions on wiring just ask. you can figure out where/how to run the wires and mount the bulb. neon lights arnt short lived. considering the cheap price theyre worth it im actually in "project rice" planning on taking my 98 escort zx2 swapping in a integra K20 fully fiberglassed interior and a system that will win comps with neons and bodykit all that ****.
edit: should be less than 100$ i got lucky and found some tubes for 5$ a peice at dollar general 4 years ago.. still work good

HA!!...bad idea...BUT....I have a solution. I have a bad ass flashing LED bar in my BERETTA, not my stang, because I am a fire fighter and we can do that. Go to www.galls.com and you can find a bunch of different types there. Most of them have like 30 different patterns that you can go with and all different styles and sizes. You should be able to find one there. You'll be paying a decent price, but its good quality stuff and has warranties.

I'm seeing a pattern here, Judi. A lot of your posts seem to contain pictures of shirtless male actors (such as the Dukes of Hazzard boys or The Hoff). It's starting to look like a fixation of yours...
