Trying to decide on a supercharger for my 2005 Mustang GT
I think I'm probably going to pull the trigger in the fall, but I wanna start planning what I want now. Lord knows it took me long enough to pull the trigger on my CAI :-P.
Anyway, I've been going back and forth between Saleen and Whipple. I guess let me start by letting you know my shorterm and longterm plans for my car.
After I S/C this car, it will become my weekend car, so it won't be a daily driver anymore. It probably will end up seeing the track a couple times(so I can see what it can do), but not as much as some people do, it will mostly stick to the streets.
I don't want to rebuild the engine right away cuz I plan on buying a house soon, so funds will be non-existant and I want the S/C to be able to run well on a stock motor without much maintenance(I know these two were built well to run on stock since FRPP uses Whipple, and Saleen well builds these things to run on stock with the exception of the S287E). But as the motor goes, I'll eventually want a rebuild and put out some nice HP, but not to the point where it isn't streetable or fun to drive outside the track anymore.
I here the Saleen can run about a max of 13/14psi boost...right? Anyone know how much HP that puts out? I'm sure with the Whipple sky is the limit on power(more or less). But I'm not sure if I'll ever want to go as high as the Whipple is capable of. Let me know what you guys think is the best option for me.
I think after the engine rebuild down the road I wouldn't want to go any higher than 600. So probably in the 500s.

Oh and I forgot to mention I want to get it installed by a professional that is close by. Since I am in New Jersey I was leaning again towards the Saleen since JDM isn't much more than 1 hour from me and they seem to be a really good shop to get this done. I have heard some "horror stories" where some guy had to keep getting his car towed 200 miles to the nearest performance shop. So that has some weight in my decision also. Then again, Mick said that JDM might also install Whipple, but if they are experienced with them is another question. I know they have extensive experience with Saleen.

the saleen stage 4 and the whipple HO.
it really depends on the long term MAX rwhp
you plan to run. If it's no more then 475 - 500rwhp,
you could go with either one. If more than 500rwhp,
id go with whipple
if you go saleen, i would go stage 4, but would
run the 3.2 or 3.4 pulley until you forge your
internals.

Do they have different size Whipple units like KB? OR is it one size?

If you plan on running a supercharger with out built internals I would get the Saleen it is much safer. You can easily make 500 off of the saleen after your engine build if you port the heads and have a full exhaust with only 8-10PSI. I would keep it though at 6 PSI if you do not build your block up.
If JDM is only an hour away...say no more and dont go any farther. Saleen is the way to go with JDM. you already know enough about S/C. I run the 3.4 pulley and love it! stock motor.

If I had unlimited funds, I buy 3 GTs, and put each type of blower on em(that includes a turbo), but seeing my situation, I think I might go with the Saleen.
Could I make 550 on a saleen with a built engine? I don't like putting a number on what I eventually want to put out since I'm not sure how streetable the car feels at certain HP ranges. I just hope that once I get to 500(or the limit of the Saleen), I don't want more HP, since I can't without switching the entire blower setup.

Why is that? I see you have the Kenne Bell listed in your mods. From what I've read the twin screws cost more but if you can afford them are better than the centrifugal superchargers.

I have a Kenne Bell and if I had to do it again I'd go with Kenne Bell again. I believe Sqidd's issue is the difficulty getting them on the phone, but I shouldn't speak for him.
Customer service aside, just comparing product to product, I think Kenne Bell is the best SC going, especially for twin screw type. IF you do real research, and I'm not talking about just comparing advertising or listening to others who have a supercharger, if you do real research I don't see how you can come to any other conclusion. Of, course, that's just my opinion.

Hey Scoop, 500 at the wheels with a Saleen is not hard to get on a stock motor.. I am above that on a stock motor. And yes I will be doing some forge work on the motor down the road. It is safe in my opinion, but there is always a first. Call JDM ask for Junior and tell him I sent you. And yes JDm does do Whipple.
