There wouldn't be much of a race between the 500 Hp Shelby and the new ZR1 Corvett.
Now if FORD would make a 600 hp Cobra. (Druel, Druel) (Pant, Pant).
I have never heard of a 25 for an aspec in a tire, but.
P285/30ZR19 in front and P335/25ZR20 in the rear.
Ford needs to do more than just match the HP of the vette. It weighs almost 800 pounds less and is aerodynamic as heck.
I watched a vid of a 650 Hp GT500 vs a 501 hp vette and they both hung with each other. I think Ford needs to start building these cobras with lighter weight materials.
But personally, I'd like to own a cobra some day and I don't wanna pay the equivalent of the pricetag of a Z.

1st the new Shelby GT 500 is not a Cobra, It just has a snake in the grill. 2nd. People have always compared the Mustang to the Vett. Personally, I don't see the need for a back seat in the Mustang and it would be an easy matter to take 6 inches off the top of the Mustang, by lowering the dash and putting the seats in a well. 3rd. The Vett is going to cost $100,000. A Ford Cobra would most likely be in the -$50,000. range. 4th. The Ford GT is not made anymore and when it was made was +$150,000. 5th. I wouldn't mind Ford using all the good things about a Vett in a Mustang, Just as long as they stay away from all the bad things in a Vett.

Maybe a two seat mustang as an option would work.
What makes a cobra, a cobra?

wow guess i hit a sour note. my point was that these cars should not be compared. they are NOT in the same class look at the weight diff.Just because ford can make a car that is almost on par with the vette dosent mean they should be compared, if the cost difference is 50% than its not exactly a fair comparison. wait lets see here a v6 mustang cost about 21000 and the msrp on a GT500 is 45000 thats 50% lets compare those cars lol. hey ya know what that would be a Closer comparison as far a weight goes.

For those of us with kids, the small backseat in the Mustang is essential. I wouldn't have bought the car if it had no back seat. An optional backseat delete would probably work.

Probably a big reason why it's one of the most popular sports car still to this day...a muscle car that can carry a family.

tw0scoops123 A Cobra is a Cobra when FORD puts Cobra on the car and Calls it a COBRA and the Sticker says Cobra. A Shelby mustang is a Mustang that Shelby’s shop worked with Ford SVT to develop a Shelby GT 500. The Snakes are just decoration, When you order one you don't order a Cobra, You order a Shelby GT 500.
sdlewis1986
Sour note? I guess maybe because I numbered my statements? Nothing sour about any of them.
06ragtopGT I have seen V6 with a snake on the grill and fender, that hardly makes it a Cobra. But if you want to think the Shelby is a Cobra, Go right ahead.
sdlewis1986 Just because people refer to it as a Cobra, doesn't make it a Cobra, After all people have been saying Columbus discovered America for a very long time, and if you are passed the third grade in education, you know this is not true. Just by calling it a Cobra would also make the Shelby GT a Cobra, and the Roush/Cobra.
Shelby made one Cobra, That was the AC Cobra and some Dodge thing , but that don't count.
Ford has made many Cobras, Even a Torino Cobra. Ford Guys/ Mustang owners can call a Shelby a Cobra if they like, and they can also call a Dog a Cat, but that don't make either one correct.
