Default JLT CAI vs. STEEDA cold air intake

I have a 2006 4.0L v6 stock mustang and it needs more power. Which cold air intake should I get: A STEEDA Mustang Cold Air intake for 260$ from americanmuscle.com or a JLT Performance sold air intake for 210$ from americanmuscle?

I wouldnt bet on JLT just yet. Do JLT and Steeda use the same Dyno? and if one does surpass the other does it surpass throughout the power band or in just a section of it? I say look at the dynocharts of both of them and see whats up. I just have a K & N :P so i wouldnt know about both. maybe someone on here has used both? I'll research it up for ya.

ok after searching on it on both websites and researching, I saw that both companies have worked with the same guy, Chad Johnson with SCT, producing their products. Here is my analysis:
On the JLT site(2005-UP MUSTANG GT : Zen Cart!, The Art of E-commerce), they have advertised gains between 28-34 on a 93 octane tune. best horsepower per dollar they also advertised.
On the flip side, Steeda also worked with Chad Johnson with SCT. Their site (Steeda Ultimate Induction Power Pak - '05-'08 Ford Mustang).
here they have advertised 38 HP and 30 TRQ at the rear wheels. it also states that when the other top brands were dynoed on the same machine as the steeda, they have advertised at least a 4hp and 5 trq increase across the entire band. they also have a quote from Chad Johnson himself explaining that he has seen the best results with the Steeda CAI than any other CAI using the SCT tuner.

JLT puts out the most power period. MM&FF ran an article about it or was it 5.0 but one of them did comparing all of the brands of Intakes and JLT put out the best numbers on the same car on the same dyno.

Does the Steeda come with the entire Elbow for the 260 or just the filter and intake like it does for the V8. I like the JLT a lot more. You can also order it from them and get it custom painted.

My opinion is the JLT is less in cost puts out more power and looks better. Even if the Steeda did out perform JLT it would only be by at most 2 hp and that is unnoticeable so that goes for the JLT as well. More then likely you would not notice any difference between the two and the biggest difference would be on how they look.

I recently purchased a JLT intake and I am not real sure what to think about it yet. I had the stock setup with a 93 octane tune from my Diablo Sport tuner and I honestly think that it ran better. When I installed the JLT intake, I also installed the JLT tune from my diablo sport which is the 91 octane tune.
To me, it just doesn't seem to run quite as good. Maybe it's just me though.

When you step down a grade in octane with the tune, you are going to notice it. Octane makes a lot of the power for it.

That was my thought too. I installed the 93 octane tune with the JLT intake installed and my car DID NOT like that at all. You could be driving down the road in 4th gear, then take your foot off of the gas pedal and it was like the car was in cruise control. The RPM's would not drop until several seconds afterwards. Even if the car were sitting in neutral, and you would simply rev it up to around 2,000 RPM's, it would still sit there at 2 grand for several seconds.
After I installed the 93 tune, I also noticed that the car was very hard to start and once it did start, it idled as if it had a very radical cam in it for a few seconds then finally smoothed out.
I would love to have the performance back that I had with the stock air intake and the 93 octane performance tune.
As it is now with the JLT intake and their "specific" tune for this setup, I can't really say that I am all that impressed with it.
Mike
