That's good advice STL. I've heard the opposite, but it never mad sense to me to reduce pressure in street tires. I mean, I understand the idea behind it, but for street tires? After I put some miles on the bullitt, I plan on taking it on some 1/4 mile runs myself.

Stock as can be, just trying to reverse the damage the previous owner caused.
the best way to me is to let the clutch slip alittle of the line at 3000rpms or lower or else you'll just blow the tires of it with your mods. if you really want to see your cars true potential at the track i suggest investing in some slicks, or mickey thompson ET street radials.

I didn't always know that... And then someone schooled me one day at the track. Live and learn.
I don't care how much experience anyone has, every time you go to the track you learn something. I've made over 1100 passes in my car and I learned something new on every one of those runs. Especially when you are racing someone as opposed to making TnT runs.

5 speed cars are tough to launch....slipping the clutch is the best way like said above.
I have had good luck with lowering air pressure in a street tire....if the recommended pressure is 35...you can drop it 3 or 4 lbs and may help...dont drop it like 10lbs...35 may be to much causing not a full tire contact to the surface...and 32 may be just right?????
then up front.. pump them up to 50psi....less rolling resistance. also dont go thru the water box...go around it! wet tires dont grip at all.

i read a good article on this a month or so ago. with street tires it is not recomended to lower the tire pressure or burn out before a race. They said the benefit of smoking the tires is non existant with street radials and is more for drag radials. I cannot remeber the reasoning but it had something to do with the compund and the waste of tread.

I have always had good luck in lowering the pressure in street tires. both in FWD and RWD cars. i was able to eliminate wheel hop in my FWD by lowering the tire pressure. and reduce my 60 foot times. I did the same thing in my stang and got less wheel hop when it was stock.
no burn outs with street tires.
i once tried autocross tires at the drag strip. the sidewalls are stiff as hell, but i figured the stickiness of the Kuhmos would help.
they didn't.
I was in my turbo FWD and I was spinning all the way down the track with torque steer like a motha. scared me enough I changed em when i got back to the pits.
~~~~~~~
I should add, i never went below 25 psi in either cars street tires and aired the tires back up to the recommended tire pressure before driving back home.
