I have the boom tubes, with the MAC prochamber. I did a lot of research as I do will parts i buy for my cars. All I can say is the Boom Tube is THE BEST sounding axle back out there. Very agressive yet refined. Not as raspy as the SLP, because it has a louvered core, instead of completely straight through. I would recommend it to anyone, over anything.
Also any probs with smog inspection later? I mean, I know they're emisions legal, but since they have no mufflers (delete) will they pass visual inspection in California? and maybe pass sound (decibels) inspection also?

I used to be a California smog tech and we never checked to see if a car had mufflers or not. It wasn't a requirement. What's important is whether or not the car had functioning cats. As for sound inspection, that's probably something done through some law enforcement agency or they send you some place to have the decibels checked but not through the smog bureau/program.

Thanks for the info. They sure sound good though. Compared to SLP LM1's, they sound more deeper toned, no raspy crap, no popping....heard some folks have had to adjust the hangers, as one side meets the metal on the car and when received from the supplier, they are scratched alittle like you mentioned earlier. But overall, best bang for the buck as you might say.
i love my boomtubes. i get heads turning and ricers revving. i hurt my left ear a lil on an on ramp the other day with the window down. i partially stepped on it and my bro was in the car with me and said it sounded

Another boomtubes lover here! Put them on thursday and the ipod and the radio have been turned off since.. boomtubes really rock.... this imo is one of the nicest old school sounding exhausts for the s197 if your not going to be leaving the stock cats and mid pipe on.
The boomtubes really are deep and totally old school.... and no raspiness here like the slp loudmouths imo... and drone is very minimal imo... there is some between 1600 rpm - 2000 rpm depending on how you are gassing it in first, second and third... no drone in 4th or 5th gear in at all... which takes away the complaints of drone on the highway.
Only one complaint with this exhaust... the clamps it came with didnt tighten down enough... or atleast to my liking... so i got a couple welds from a local shop for $20 and now its perfectly secured down by the overaxle pipe.
And thanks Judi.... your posts totally convinced me to get the boomtubes... they rock and yes they are on the car now... too bad i didnt have a camcorder or I would have done a write up on them and the install and some sound-clips!
This thread has sold many, I am sure... I am waiting for MAC to thank us all.....
I am really thrilled you love them - I freakin' totally love mine... If they fell off tomorrow, I'd go get another pair for sure...
A car dealer came into work who was junk talking his Hertz GT exhaust... so I stepped outside with him and he started it up and I was like... hmmmmmmmm... Sounds stock... I didn't tell him that though.

Purchased my Boom Tubes through Stangmods.com and
used a coupon code and got another $15.00 off. They
shipped next day but came from California, so that was a full
7 day UPS ride to Connecticut. No dents or scratches and the welds are just fine. A big shout out to 2007 CalSpec!....
Nice write up and pics....you helped! Install was super easy,
no need to remove the furthest rear mounts, just remove
the ones closest to the axle,,,,loosen the pipe clamps and they'll slide out. 13MM ratchet wrench a must have for time and aggravation savings. Passenger side hangs PERFECT with
no adjustements needed, drivers side is centered but a little
bit higher than passengers side....tried adjusting at H pipe
but that did not make much of a difference, do not think it will
be a problem though with heat as there is still breathing room
from the top of the tip to the plastic bumper cover (someone
had mentioned that their tube touched the bumper and melted
it a little). The sound is awesome......Made my decision strictly
on youtube videos, reviews and forums like this one. I am 100%
satisfied............
I have a question for you Boom Tubes owners. I love the sound but I'm a tad concerned about the look. Can you easily see the baffles inside from looking from the rear, or do you have to get down and basically peer inside?
