A while back I purchased Magnaflow high perormance cats for my 06 GT. I went to the exhauast shop to have them put it on and they said the stock ones are better and if I had them install the magnaflows I would lose power and sound. I asked why and his explanation was that the stock cats were larger letting more through than the skinnier model magnaflows...I always thought it was the opposite, skinnier cat being more performance oriented.
Should I get a second opinion? Hearing that high performance cats from a reputable company are worse than factory cats is a hard for me to believe.
The guys who told me this have been doing this a while, and did a great job with my exhaust set up and I have since brought all my other friends with mustangs their for theirs as well.
Thanks.

Hmmm, I have Bassani w/ hi-flo cats. I can't find any problems. Interesting though.
The stock cats are very hard to beat, but...if you go to a blower, you will need a "metal" cat. The stock ones will eventually give up over time with constant pounding from the supercharger.
I know someone personally that ran 600+ hp for 2 years on the stock cats with only Corsa axle back. His LH cat finally had a Chernobyl.

Metallic substrate race cats are best but ceramic h/f cats are fine.
You're saying that because he's given no indication he's going F/I, right Mark ? Otherwise he'd be better off w/ metallic substrate cats since at some point he may blow a ceramic cat w/ a supercharger on the exhaust system and thereby be likely to blow the engine like Justin Bercham did, yes ?
